• Simple Photoshop Website Mockup

Hi again, Facepunch. So, I'm quite intrigued with the whole web design concept. I gave a shot at it with a small Photoshop mockup, I spent quite a while on it, but got lazy towards the end. I was planning on a sidebar (possibly paper sticking out under the main content with small snippets of info.) Anyway, here's my final design (minus the planned sidebar.) http://www.truploader.com/uploads/035918apprev.png (This link allows for a larger shot of the site; 100% view. I recommend it as opposed to the Facepunch media link.) ------------- I'd appreciate comments and critique, as I continue to improve on it. I'm especially looking forward to any ideas Facepunch has as to what to include in the sidebar. *NOTE: I don't really know what the site is supposed to be about. Originally it was going to be an iPod touch app review site (hence the title AppRev and the nav buttons), but then I transfered to a technology site (see: content.) **Also, that Facepunch sticker at the bottom was just because I love you guys :3: ***And one more thing: all icons you see are just some free released icon sets I found.
Not bad. Question...are you actually setting the site up?
Looks all good, expecially for someone just getting into it (if you are, that is.). Although the fonts you used would be tricky to set up, you'd likely have to use some sort of flash or javascript tech for now to make them work. And the background wouldn't be very good due to a large file size and possibly slow connections/bandwidth :p. Other than that its a nice mockup, i like it :3.

I like it but the sides feel wasted.
I like it but the sides feel wasted.
That's what I thought as well. Can you offer any suggestions?
You could put the sidebar on one side and some revenue generating ads on the other.
You could put the sidebar on one side and some revenue generating ads on the other.
I might try that. To all other folk: what do/don't you like about the design?
I might try that. To all other folk: what do/don't you like about the design?
Only 4 links per page.
Looks like the tf2 font [editline]12:37PM[/editline] a bit
You said nVidea it's nVidia
Try putting some links at the top and bottom of your list of articles there, stuff like "next" or "back" or whatever, if you intend on having more than one page of articles, and yea, those side spaces could be used for ads, but try not to make them to dominant over the page, looks nice though. I especially like that background.
I guess you could have banners or navigation tabs in the left or right space. [editline]01:37AM[/editline] Apart from that it looks awesome, i'm digging the design.
I like it, though one or two quick nav buttons would'nt hurt
Skwee: What? Coolman12: Which one? I used a few different fonts in there, none of which are TF2 related. Jessey: A typo! :byodood: MachoManRandySavage: Yeah, there's already a previous articles button there. If it were a page back, I'd also add an additional "newer articles" type deal. I agree, I'll try to keep ads non-intrusive. As to the background, glad to hear someone likes it; without it, my page looks really bland. Rusty100: Wow, thanks a lot! Good to hear, especially from you ("ur gud lololo") Luuper: Top right, same line as the title. Those are my "quick" (understatement) nav buttons. --- Thanks to everyone who's commented so far; probably the most constructive advice I've gotten out of Facepunch. I'll work on adding some ads and improving my nav buttons.
