Stick with Nvidia 8800 GTX or go with GeForce GTS 250?

I'm thinking of replacing my card.
The GTS 250 is much faster with a core speed almost 200 mhz faster, but my biggest concern is that the GTS 250 only has 512MB of VRAM.
I have a 1680 x 1050 monitor, will 512 be enough to run well? I currently have 768MB and have never noticed any issues really.
The memory interface on the GTS 250 is also 256-bit where the 8800 is 84-bit.
Which one should I go for?
An upgrade that small isn't worth it. Save up some more.
I would rather save for a GTX460. They're not that expensive really and it would be a better choice if you ask me.

Well my 8800 is pretty old, it could start to crap out any day really.
So you would consider it an upgrade? That's what I'm wondering. It's better in some areas but and worse in others, but over-all would is it a better card? And will it run well with 1650 x 1080?
Also I can get the card for only 50 bucks.
It is a very small upgrade, save up for a GTX460 as the above said.

Save up 200$, buy a GTX 460... and marvel at the beauty and smooth frame rates.

Yeah but that's like a $229 card
The only reason I'm considering new hardware is because someone can give me one for $50. So I guess the real question is whether or not it's worth 50 bucks.
I actually have a 8800GTX in my current build and it's not that bad. It may be old, but it's still doing a great job most of the time. It manage most games for me, and I play at 1920x1200 on pretty much all games I play.

So it's like changing from a previous generation mid/high-end card for a mid-end card. Don't think you'll even notice a differense.
It's $50.00, Might as well get it. Think of it as insurance in-case your current card breaks. That or just use the new one, and if that one shits out after its time you can always go back to using your 8800 GTX as a temp.
