Automakers often offer tours of their factories. They usually doesn't cost much, if anything and at their best, are meant to show school kids how cars go from raw materials at one end to drive out the door at the other. But BMW plans to take the factory tour to a new level at its Spartanburg, S.C. assembly plant - a $99 extravaganza.
For $99, visitors will get a reservation-only, behind-the-scenes guided walk through the plant, a tour of the plant's on-site Zentrum museum and theater, and two hours of skidding across blacktop in new BMWs at the Performance Center driving school, reports Automotive News. For some potential guests, we're guessing Father's Day can't come soon enough.
This is being called "The Ultimate BMW Experience." BMW plans to ham it up with special touches like bringing out its rare vehicles and food occasions - "unique culinary events."
It's not as if BMW hadn't been charging already. The Spartanburg plant charges $7 per person to take a tour into limited areas of the plant.[/release]
It seems worth it, considering what you get.
More fun than a day at a theme park riding roller coasters, that's for sure.
If I got to test drive some cars I'd be in for sure. Although obviously that would be too risky on their part :frown:
Fuck that yo. I take them monies and buy a
Not worth it, an average tour is good enough, when you consider it isn't only a tour but you visit the museum as well.
Is there free food? There better be free food.

For $99 I'd expect that to be the best damn hoe ever and be able to plough by itself.
It's not a bad deal, considering you get to ride around in expensive BMWs for 2 hours and you get a free lunch and stuff.
BMW sucking money, and giving shitty fake metal and wood interiors to rich people since the mid sixties. Building semi-ok quality vehicles since 1918. The only thing from BMW that I like are the engines. I absolutely hate the "I'm better than you attitude" from the commercials, and all of the drivers.

The wood and metal in the interiors is real.

Also some of the highest-quality vehicles around.
That sounds pretty cool for any gearheads out there.

Most are V8's, it should handle it. My moms four cylinder 99' accord has a towing capacity of 2000 LBs.

Actually, BMW is best known for their straight-6 engines.
Do we get a complementary car at the end?
