Is it good?
Is it good?
It is. Think Star Ruler, but the ship customization is a bit more in depth, since placement of pieces is both practical in use, and visual in appearance, with guns having arcs of fire, which can be changed while creating, Power Plants giving power to certain distances away from them unless you use a conduit to run the power through the ship, armors, engines, weapons out the ass, cockpits and bridges. Put a power conduit linking power throughout your ship from a couple powerplants in the center of the ship, and an enemy eats through the armor you put in, if you put any in, and hits a part of the conduit, severing it, then all the modules powered by that link are dead. You can customize your race, too. Travel to star systems that have solar systems that actually orbit the stars takes some time to reach depending on distance and how large your galaxy is. There's no set line ships will follow. You can go anywhere from anywhere, stop on the way, build deep stations out in the middle of space that serve purposes like Repair/Rearm... Then there's colonization, surface structure building & Mining/Research, and even combat for hostile take overs. Or you could just bomb it all from space and destroy it all Even though it's a Top Down 2D looking game, it uses 3D models, that are animated smoothly, and the game is highly moddable. Expect BSG, Star Wars, Mass Effect mods, so on and so forth Definitely worth the money if you're into RTS/4X Hybrids
Right but how massive can you go? I would love building ships that could carry planets in Star Ruler.
Right but how massive can you go? I would love building ships that could carry planets in Star Ruler.
Ships are a set size. They range from small To Holy fucking god damn With everything in between and small to huge modules to match. How effective they are is up to how you built it, but the largest ships are viable against the smallest, unlike Star Ruler sometimes, and vise versa. I sound like I'm advertising it to shit and back but it's the RTS/4X game of this genre I've been waiting for. It's a lot like Distant Worlds, with a little bit less micro-management, but unlike Distant Worlds (For me) Star Drive runs flawlessly and not like shit
From what I've played, I love the fuck out of it. It's got some small and big bugs (ie the game chugs to a halt during endgame), but it's nothing that can't be patched out. It's also made by the Endless Space guys (I think) which was my favorite 4X before this.
I might wait until it's on sale then, and when it's less buggy; thanks for the recommendation!
Great game. But it has a single game-breaking flaw; even the hardest AI is complete shit. After 3-5 games, you will be dominating 7 brutal enemies without breaking a sweat. I grew bored of it very fast after that.
Is it good?
Samurai Space Bears.
Samurai Space Bears.
I hate those fuckers. They settled a colony in the same star system as one of mine, then had the audacity to get mad at me for having a warship near their colony. Fucking bastards. [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] Also the plant dudes are total bros [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] I dealt with the bears by sending my three fleets, the left, right, and middle hands of Snoop Dogg to deal with them. All of them were made up of 20 freighters each, all called "Finger of Snoop Dogg" [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] So yeah this game is fun

Have you been smoking the plant people?
Today I learned Snoop Dogg has 60 fingers. Have you been smoking the plant people?
I think he meant Snoop Lion. And as you know the lion is the king of the jungle and the king makes the fucking rules, OKAY
