Oh yes, a character that should have been free from the start is now being charged $10 to unlock.
This is why I'm really starting to hate Gearbox, along with the $5 fee for the level cap if you don't have the Season Pass. The level cap should have been free or be included in the final campaign DLC, like the first one.

Why should Krieg have been free from the start?
I mean, I have really started to dislike Gearbox lately after the Colonial Marines spectacle, but I don't see why you would complain about Gearbox in particular when it comes to this. If this was day-one DLC I could understand, but this is basically an additional character for those who enjoyed BL2 enough to pay another $10 for some more content.

Why should it have been free from the start? Because you don't want to pay for it?
I wish I could find this game enjoyable, but it gets so repetitive, I could never finish it

why would it be free?
it's completely optional and totally not needed DLC.
you're not forced to buy it, and I'm sure you can play with others who have it, so whats the issue here?

if you played it alone, i'm not surprised. it's extremely fun in co-op.

pretty much every game is better in co-op

Anything is fun with a friend.
If a game can't stand up on it's own, then that's usally a sign that it isn't a very good game.

But the game is DESIGNED around co-op?
That being said, I played it solo first time through and loved it. Its just infinitely more enjoyable with a group of friends at your back.

Also, I am pissed he's a melee character. Makes sense given he's a Psycho, but for a game where GUNS is a big part, being melee based seemed to defeat the point.
I see the "better with friends" thing used before, and sometimes it's legit. Payday is a really good game, but if you play solo it's going to suck some fucking balls. Left 4 dead, which is pretty much universally praised, sucks going solo as well. Pretty much all racing games are better with friends.
Now I will say that borderlands 2 has it's repetitive moments, but I feel it's as repetitive as other shooter games, Battlefield, Half life, bulletstorm, spec ops the line, just cause 2... They all follow the same concept of "run into room/area, kill a bunch of dudes, listen to some story being spoon fed to you" and repeat. And all those are pretty decent games.
It's like the "games should be fun without mods." That rings true for most games, but sometimes, like with games like garrysmod or whatever, it's heavily designed around modding. You would be bored as fucking tits if you just went into gmod and didn't go onto any modded servers or install any mods yourself. But I don't say the game sucks ass, because it's designed to be modded.

but garrys mod is a mod
but garrys mod is a mod
Yes yes, but it's still a game though. If it was free, that would be one thing, but it isn't.
A mod to be modded so to speak.

but it's a mod, what does "having it be free" have to do with it?
but it's a mod, what does "having it be free" have to do with it?
I don't expect much from a free anything. But if I pay for a game I should get enough content for the game to stand on it's own without having to install any addons or whatever. I'm saying some games, like garrys mod, don't necessarily have the amount of content I would expect from other games I paid for, but I can forgive it due to the fact that A: It's cheap and B: it's designed to be modded. I'm not going to say garrysmod sucks because sandbox mode is boring and that's all it comes with, because it's got a thousand other servers running custom gamemodes and content, and that's what it was designed to do.
Being designed around co-op doesn't excuse anything
it excuses the singleplayer gameplay feeling incomplete, yes.
No, in Borderlands 2 literally the only difference between co-op and singleplayer is the presence of friends and the difficulty of enemies, playing with friends doesn't fix the repetitiveness or other flaws.
But it does make it more fun, just from the social interaction. I can't stand MOBAs at all by myself, but I'll play them with my friends and they suddenly become fun.

So you'd rather they take the fucking single player out?
The games designed around being played with friends. I don't get why people get on their high horse when "games are only fun with friends".
How is that a bad thing, if something is fun, from a consumer standpoint.
