For people wondering if it's a good PC port, it's a very well optimized PC port. It doesn't have some of the fancier things like DX11, but it runs really well and it does have a bunch graphics settings. Plus the game is really good.

I love the PS3 version, but the framerate is hit or miss on that one.
They definitely tried to polish up the PC release. The Release build that was pushed out on Steam here was done on the 30 of Jan.
I really like this game so far. The levels are huge and creative, and there's cool things like unlocking stickers for achieving things in races, the levels change with every lap, way cooler than Mario Kart imo. Although the player animations for when you win races are really stiff and bad looking.
Good to see that the PC port turned out good. Now I just hope they keep it up-to-date with the same DLC that the other versions get (if any). Been burned before with PC racers. (Looking at you, Burnout Paradise.)
I think Sumo Digital said that they are planning to release some DLC, and new character(s) will also get released. When it happens I don't know though.
They should make a deal with Telltale and get Sam and Max into this game. That would be kickin' rad.
Turns out they put in undocumented changes in the PC version.... like: That "big ass laser" (Moonstone Cannon) fired from the Hydra does not occur in the console version! Theres also other graphical changes in other stages, I assume they are not in the console versions due to it being taxing on the systems. Though strange for them to not say anything about it. Plus after entering group chat for this game and sticking around, man I got to say there's some dedicated devs, in fact one (a programmer) is always around in the chat answering questions where he can and apparently fixing bugs that are being reported right now. (On a Saturday) Plus here's a quote from the chat:
adrian: yer - monday night was 3am, i think the final build was around 10pm although we were in till about 1 iirc
Sticking up for those times for the PC version seems greatly dedicated to me.
I'm getting this when its gonna be on a big sale.
I'm getting this when its gonna be on a big sale.
I grabbed it for €16.87 EUR from GreenManGaming while back when it were still on pre order sale. I have already spent whole 27 hours on this and I can say that It is worth every cent. [editline]2nd February 2013[/editline] Also if you don't like Sonic at all don't judge the game by its name, it is still solid 'CTR' copy with annoying yet challenging twist that is transforming vehicles.
Is it basically a new, polished Diddy-kong racing with different characters?
About half Diddy Kong Racing (the vehicle types themselves) and half Mario Kart 7 (where the vehicles change at certain map segments).
