I made a program that simulated Blue Boxes, which were simple electronic devices used in the 70s and 80s that generated special tones used by the phone system. They are pretty much useless now, unless you're in a third world country that still uses older phone systems. But I made this anyway because I felt like it.
This is the program:

Here is a recording of an old phone call. You can hear tones in the middle that are produced by the switching equipment. I compared them with my Blue Box tones, and found that the number dialed was [KP] 9449972 [ST]:

Here is an example of someone doing Blue Box dialing on the last phone system in the US that accepted these tones:

Also, here's a demo of my program, and the sounds it makes:

It's not much, but I had fun making it. Maybe someone here will appreciate it.
I still have a phone that makes these notes :v:
I don't see how this is usefull but I guess I can download and see if I can make a song with it :D

The sounds are a bit to unresponsive to make a song :/
Simulate Red Boxes next.
There. I made a Red Box program because it was even easier.

This program simulates the tones produced by older payphones when money is put into them.

I thought that Blue boxes were no good now that phone companies switched over to more digital methods of accessing the trunk lines?

That is correct, in the United States. In some other countries, this still works. But even if I can't use this program for anything, I still thought this would be a fun little project.
