Apparently 28th Oct 2011 (tomorrow for some) is the end of the world. Again. However, this isn't your Camping style end of the world, this is the Mayan theory. Apparently there were two dates set for the end for the end fo the world; 21st Oct 2012, which we all know and love, and 28th Oct 2011, tomorrow. The main theory was the Elenin(?) comet, this was meant to be "Nibiru" however NASA announced the comet was destroyed by flying to close to the sun, even if it didn't die, it wouldn't have hit us anyway.
It was theorised because of the difference between the Gregorian calendar and the Mayan calendar.
The Mayan "end of the world" THEORY, emphasising theory not the calendar, comes from ancient LEGENDS of the world destroying itself before, the end of the world is based on ancient mexican legends. Not solid proof or these scrolls that the Mayans made, depicting the end of the world, which they were not drawn for 2011/12 but the end of the world whenever that is, just old legends.
The calendar may end at 11/12 but it dose not claim the end of the world will happen at this time. The Mayans considered these "ends" as a time of great celebration.

So, I hope you found this informative.
The calender never predicted the end of the world, it just said there would be a great change. These protests are most certainly proof that a great change is coming, hopefully it will be for the better
E: Apparently people are saying to demonstrations and fighting is part of the "big change".
this is totally the one
Oh fuck!
And as the date passes, someone will come along and say, "Oh wait our calculations/translation was off, it'll be in another 20 years!"
No.
What's up with the end of the world theories this year, There's more made up than in last 5 years.
God can we just all blow up already the anticipation is killing me
Its Dec 21st, 2012, not Oct 21st.
I know this because that is my birthday, and I am going to have the biggest party ever to celebrate surviving.
Why are people so keen for everyone to die?
Because they try to be right just once in their life.
Why are people so keen for everyone to die?
Some people just want to watch the world burn
I've been waiting for this for ages Bring on the death and misery woo!
I always thought the end would come because of zombies.
All the L4D in the world can't prepare you for a non-zombie apocalypse.
Hit the bunkers
So were all gonna die tomorrow or today in some parts of the world since it's the 28th there.
Oh bums, my birthdays on the 29th, that sucks.

Because of this:

Because of a stupid movie, people think the world is going to end.
it's not going to happen anyway.
I don't care.
This is one interpretation of the MAYAN CALENDAR ending. The MAYAN CALENDAR has NOTHING to do with the end of the world.

Here's the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Johan_Calleman#Beliefs
Calleman's beliefs differ from other interpreters of the Mayan calendar and the 2012 phenomenon in that he sees the crucial date for change as 28 October 2011--not 21 December 2012--which he posulates will see the culmination of a series of nine waves of increasing frequency which have influenced, and continue to influence, the development and evolution of both the physical universe and human consciousness.[3] [4][5][6][7]
His ideas represent a revival of theories of unilineal evolution.
Calleman disagrees that 2012 represents the point of an allignement between the Earth's solstice and the galactic centre which he says would be a purely local phenomenon unique to the Earth and which in any case has already occurred in 1998. Instead he sees the Mayan calendar as describing the creation process of the whole Universe. [8]
Within the logic of the Mayan Long Count , he says, an auspicious end would have to be on a day which is 13 Ahau in the tzolkin count. Since December 21st 2012 falls on 4 Ahau this is an unlikely end date. The 28 October 2011 is a 13 Ahau date. [9]
Beginning with the Big Bang he believes creation has continued through a series of waves, each one a factor of 20 times shorter in duration than the one preceding it. Each wave has driven the structure of the universe to a higher level . [10] The first wave drove the creation of physical matter, the second living cells, the third multicellular life, the fourth organisms living in family groups, the fifth, saw humans in tribal groups , and the sixth in national groups. The seventh wave encompasses human awareness of the whole planet, and the eighth awareness of our place in the galactic structure. [11] The final wave , the ninth and shortest of all, began on 8 March 2011 and will complete along with all the others on 28 October 2011 sees awareness of the whole of the cosmos achieved. Rather than the series ending with an Apocolypse he describes it as the completion of the creation process of the Universe. The way will then be open to the full realisation of conciousness at its highest level which he terms "Unity conciousness" .
If the OP took 3 seconds to actually read the article or who Calleman has been he'd see this.

Some of us actually read/heard about the 2012 theory before that movie.
I wouldn't say it's because of that.
FUCK
i wont even be able to go see rocky horror
What the fuck it's my birthday tomorrow fuck off you chinky fucks
I like how they put specific days on when the world will end. Will the world end one timezone an hour? Will we have timezone-shaped chunks of the planet missing from several extremely specific meteorite collisions?
I don't want to die before i get laid!
Fuck you Nibiru, I don't care if I have to slap you into the sun, I am not dying a virgin.
