Alright, so I'm sitting at home here, browsing FP, when I hear some shouts. Our house is getting some paint work done so we have some guys around our house, and I decided to see what's up. Apparently, they found some dog sitting in the backyard that looked lost. We checked it out, and it seems to have some sort of collar with a antenna, probably for an electric fence or something. Also looks like it hasn't eaten recently. We have our own dog, so right now we fed it with our own dog food. I'm trying to figure out what to do here, gonna see if it has a tag of some sort.
I'll keep this updated, seeing as people here love animals. I'm trying to see what we can do.
UPDATE: One dog returned to owners, but the other is somewhere else, so it's being tracked by the owners with an antenna device. Hope they find it.
Return it.

also feeding it was a fucking dumb idea
Dinner!
So many "I just found a cat/dog" or "Help me help this kitty/puppy" threads lately :raise:
post ad's saying you found this dog. and hope the owners contact you.
Ask the neighbors if they know whose dog it is.
Sell the dog back to its owners, and if they refuse to pay, then send it to them in chunks.
Seriously though if it was in your backyard then they probably live nearby. Put some posters up or something
The dog has a tag, so that's good. Trying to call the owner but he won't pick up. Gonna see if I can find where it lives by searching the number.
Good for you :)
If you can't find the address, take it to the vets to see if it's chipped.

We live in the country just outside the suburbs, not too many neighbors round here, and only 1 of them has a Dachshund.
Take it too a local vets and get it checked to see if it has a micro chip?
Holy shit, Google Maps says it lives 30 miles from here.
Yes.

We're going to see if they don't respond within an hour, then we'll take it to a shelter/vet here.

Phone number. It had a tag. I found the house where the number is from.

Call the number?
The dog seems more or less OK right now, though it's whining a bit, probably because it misses home.

Scroll above you to the 8th post. I'm not stupid, they're not responding and we left some messages.

It's probably best you call the number and say you have their dog.

why cant you read
I think I see another dog a bit farther out near our front yard. Going to check.
Is this a parody thread of the one made earlier today?

I don't think you have a big enough situation as it is
Let's go get that other lost dog
Well that was a failure. I went up to make sure and the dog saw me and ran off a bit. Tried coaxing it to come closer, but it won't budge. I'm afraid to go after it again, for fear of it running off into the woods. Gonna wait and see if it comes closer again. Any suggestions?
Oh and it had a collar similar to the one the other dog has.

No, what thread are you talking about?

That dog seems intent on staying there. I'm thinking of bringing the other one over to see if it will come.

Thread this morning about this woman who stole this persons dog and hid it on the outskirts of town. OP of that thread was the one who lost the dog. Thought this could be a parody.
Well it seemed to work. Dog 2 (referring to dog we first found and have as Dog 1, since they have no names.) started coming closer, sensing familiarity, but then when it got kinda close it just bolted off into the woods. I tried running after it but I lost sight. I feel sad right now. :smith:

I remember seeing that thread earlier this morning. But that thread was about a fat lady selling the dog to some restaurant owner. And in my case, it's two dogs that look nothing like the one in that thread.

Good news everyone! The owner finally called back, and he says he'll be here soon. I hope he'll be able to do something about the other dog, though.
[editline]4th December 2010[/editline]
OK, so I finally gave the dog back to the owners. They came here with a pickup with a cage of similar dogs in the back. Seems like they're hunters/breeders. One of them was holding some sort of antenna, which turned out to be a tracking device for the collars, so that means they have a better chance of finding the other one than we do. They thanked us a lot and then drove off to try to find the other one with the tracker. I hope they do.
They should have give you something in return?
