Bebo.com, the once high-flying social network now embroiled in an investor lawsuit, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as it seeks to reorganize, according to a statement issued by its court-appointed receiver.
In an encouraging sign, Burke Capital Corp., the Burlingame-based receiver, said Bebo is actually "healthy, operating, and using its May 9 Chapter 11 filing in Los Angeles to restructure some operational inefficiencies and other arrangements that are burdensome."
I just deleted my old profile yesterday this is obviously all my fault.
I actually have no idea what Bebo is/was.

A social network that dethroned Myspace and was then dethroned by Facebook.
Send me love I send you loves?

Well it certainly did where I live. Everyone used bebo.
I guess the UK used Bebo while the US/Canada used Myspace.
My friend used to write software for Bebo. It was shit.

Bebo was huge here in New Zealand, not sure if it was the same in Aus, but nobody I knew had a Myspace.
Also it was utter shit.

Yeah, that's probably right. Kinda like how two years ago, everyone in Brazil used Orkut and nobody used Facebook.
wasn't bebo just an online AIM?
maybe that was like...mebo or something.
Everyone I knew used Bebo around 5 years ago. Died out pretty quickly.
this makes me want to check my old bebo account

oh god. 641 love
I used to have a bebo account but i no longer care about it anyways, back then I was into myspace and vampirefreaks then I was into bebo.
Bebo was the shit
I remember the pets I had on it
I wonder if they miss me :(
Bebo was used mostly by AOL role players for their character profiles after AOL dumped their profile system and started using bebo. The majority of people hated the change. Half the time, I couldn't log into my bebo account to make changes because the "password was wrong", yet it was the same fucking thing as my aol account.
Good riddance, I say.
Who uses bebo?
I was on Bebo! A few friends of mine persuaded me to get on it when we were all young and idealistic. Cracking fun.
In Ireland at least Bebo was king of social networks until Facebook became popular.
I still have my profile but I don't use it.
Went on it the other day and laughed so hard. I remember I used to make shit skins for people
Wait... I thought they shut down a couple of years ago?

I tracked down and deleted mine a few weeks back too. I contributed to this.
And yeah, it was bigger than MySpace in the UK and was dethroned by Facebook, as I am aware.

I thought it was Myspace dethroned by Bebo, then dethroned by Nexopia, of which was dethroned by Facebook. I remember every kid and their dog had a Nexopia profile years ago.

Hi5 was all the rage in Balkan countries before Facebook dethroned everything.
