Doom releases this year you fucktard. I guarantee you that they are far far beyond being able to change level design. Why do we even keep this shitty bot?
What are the chances that talking shit about this bod will become banable long before the bot gets removed.
So you would remove anyone with a negative opinion just because you've tired of hearing it? No thanks, if I wanted an echo chamber I'd be in a subreddit.
It's unlikely he has an issue with other opinions, it's just the general quality of PCgamesN is absolute shit.
Dear PCGamesN, Please educate yourselves on game development milestones.
I honestly don't see the issue with this article, its a nice piece that talks about game and level design of doom 1 and doom 2 and what made them soo good. It isn't an Advertisment, it isn't a blog post, it isn't about an insignificant mod for the lastest game. And it isn't a day behind or copied from a different site.

This bandwagon is getting real stupid.
I hate this site/bot so much.
So you would remove anyone with a negative opinion just because you've tired of hearing it? No thanks, if I wanted an echo chamber I'd be in a subreddit.
At this point it IS an echo chamber of people hating on the bot.
As long as the levels don't have me going around in circles trying to figure out what the previous button did to let me progress.
I wouldn't exactly cite levels from Doom 2 when it comes to good map design tbh.
I wouldn't exactly cite levels from Doom 2 when it comes to good map design tbh.
Doom 2's map design was terrible, the only good things to come out of it were new monsters and the SSG
I liked the demo level they had in the alpha quite a bit personally. The notion that the levels need to feel like something that came out 20 years ago is a bit ridiculous. I would reckon that if the magic formula was found and any other game besides doom was released today and had "doom 1" level design from the old days it wouldn't end well. Doom is a classic, but I really think it should be looked at by itself and stop drawing comparisons between it and even shooters by the late 90s that had gotten *much* more fleshed out/varied from a mechanics standpoint.
So you would remove anyone with a negative opinion just because you've tired of hearing it?
I think that's a bit too harsh. Doom 2 was really, really different compared to Doom 1 but I wouldn't call it completely terrible. It has some weaker maps sure, but Doom 1 also had those in my opinion
I remember plenty of maps from Doom 1 that are great, I remember no maps from Doom 2 that are even really very fun. Just my opinion, of course, but that's my reasoning for calling the mapping terrible.
tbh Doom's level design wouldn't work all that well unless they make the levels easy enough to move through. Levels is games now are too tight and movement is too slow, making backtracking annoying as hell imo.
To make backtracking interesting you got to give the player something to be excited about or have them backtrack with something that makes the experience different. Tease an item on the way forward that you are able to get on your way back via a new item, give an item that make previous enemies easy to kill so the player feels more powerful and the backtrack is shorter. Tricks like that can make even slow moving backtracking more bareable at least.
Perhaps we can have endless mind twisting corridors that look the same with 192 different colored key cards to unlock doors.
At this point it IS an echo chamber of people hating on the bot.
The bot is legitimately terrible. It went from generic games news to wannabe tumblr blog filled with editorials and clickbait journalism. Even when it does post news it's a day or so late.
Doom should copy Duke Nukem 3D and Blood because they have far better level design. Dark Forces is also pretty great.
Doom should copy Duke Nukem 3D and Blood because they have far better level design. Well, seeing as how neo-id forgot what makes a Doom game Doom in the first place, level design is the least of their concerns.

Dear id, please don't forget quake.
