'9/11 Christians' Plan Their Own Church Near Ground Zero
So, what if, in addition to the Park51 interfaith cultural center and basketball courts that are not at Ground Zero, we had a bigoted kook-church for people who believe Islam is a "religion of 'hate and death'" that's also not at Ground Zero? Then, everything would be even-Steven, right? Well, good news, then, from the Salon War Room:
A bigoted pastor who has assailed gays and Muslims is launching the "9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero" a mere two blocks from the World Trade Center site this Sunday but so far the project hasn't drawn a peep of protest from those who are outraged by the "ground zero mosque."
Pastor Bill Keller of Florida said today he will begin preaching this Sunday at the Marriott at 85 West Street (see proximity to ground zero here). A weekly service is planned at the hotel until the $8 million 9/11 Christian Center finds a permanent space. (Fundraising is going well, Keller told Salon today.)
I also think we may as well bite the bullet and recognize "9/11 Christians" as its own cult denomination.
I guess it's kind of ironic that opposers of the 'Ground Zero' Mosque have no problem with this bigot building a church near ground zero. But it isn't that surprising.
But this is disrespectful and they should not be allowed to build there because it has to do with terrorism!!!! :O

I just spat out my drink laughing
This is getting ridiculous.

Bad reputation.
I don't give a shit.
In totally same manner like I shouldn't give a shit about the mosque either.
I find it difficult to describe the amount of fuck I do not give about this argument.
Let em both build shit, unless it's an evangelic church, those are breeding grounds for fucking stupidity.
I'm gonna cash in on this "religious buildings near Ground Zero" fad
Anyone wanna build a Scientologist super-cathedral ON Ground Zero itself?
Pfft, all religious people are terrorists..
How much of a dumb angsty teenager do you have to be to say something as stupid as this.
This is nothing but a crusader breeding ground and needs to be halted immediately for the good of the nation
i hate religion
There is absolutely nothing stopping him. Well, you know, except for the fact that he has no money to fund it.

I think your sarcasm detector is broken.
So, what's worse? A community center, or a church built with the specific intention of exploiting 9/11 to foster hatred and violence against Muslims?

Community center. This is murka and community shares a lot of letters with communism so we dun wannit
I swear to fucking god.
How hypocritical can you be?
Why do crazy people who think every mosque is training terriost?
Because to redneck American bigots, Muslims = communist terrorist Mexicans here to steal our jobs, rape our children, and kill liberty.
As hypocritical as you want because this is America.
Who cares, let them spend their money on it. If you supported the mosque going up for non religious reasons but oppose this all you are is a fucking hypocrite

I don't oppose this but it's really fucking hypocritical to bitch and moan about a mosque then support a church being built in the same general area.
This is the man who is behind it:

As ignorant as it is, he has the right to do that.

Not that I personally approve of course, he's just being a jackass and so is everybody who protests the Community Centre.
Ah Hypocrisy, how you amuse me.
In all seriousness, this is hilarious, it's like gang-turfs, religion style.
Aaand idiots like him give Christianity a bad name.

Didn't someone firebomb a mosque recently too?
For the sake of satirical hypocrisy, you could say building a Christian church near ground zero is disrespectful and immoral because the KKK were a Christian organisation and several black people died in the September 11th attacks.
It holds about as much weight as the mosque argument.
They should build the christian church attached to the muslim one and then make noise complaints about each other.
Screw putting religious shit there, NASA launch pad anyone?
