I think it is hilarious that this game actually did better when it went Free to Play than when it was sub only.
I think it is hilarious that this game actually did better when it went Free to Play than when it was sub only.
I can't think of one instance in which F2P HASN'T made a game do better. People don't like paying recurring fees for one game, and when they do, they're already completely invested in their MMO of choice... Which is pretty much always WoW.
Frankly F2P seems the most viable way for an MMO to survive nowadays, or at the very least a one-time payment system. Hell I'd say even Wildstar, which I love AND has an ingame method of acquiring game time, may very likely go F2P after launch.

I can only think of one MMO at the moment that has a model where you need to pay in order to even play the game and that is WildStar. I give it a year or 2 before it goes Free 2 Play.
MT-4T MayThe-4TH?
May the fourth be with you
MT-4T MayThe-4TH?
I blame Disney.
ESO, too. But I can't blame you for forgetting about that game :v:
Ooooh yeah :v: Well both of 'em are not going to last long, especially ESO seeing its current state of players.
I'll actually schedule some time to play it then. Game doesn't give you rested exp AND slows down your standard exp gain unless you're a subscriber, so it's grind-tastic unless you're playing it on an event day.
