First attempt at DNB. I really don't like it, but I thought I'd post it. I've taken a long absence from music production recently due to really tumultuous times in my life, and this is just something to get me back into the groove I guess. Just tell me what I did right and what I did wrong, and I'll do better next time.
I love the athmosphere in this! Sounds very professional, but the kick is too loud and everything ducks behind it. I like the way you used bitcrushing, what plugin are you using for it? But yeah, it sounds wonderful and it's short enough to be a nice little track to get into mood. Good work!
it gets repetitive after a while of the same sounds and arps, but at least they're nice. the drop doesnt fit the lead however at 1:40 and the drums seem to overpower the track for a first time however its pretty sick and a track that, with a few more layers and a bit more mastering could be signed. (i had better C&C before, big paragraphs and all that, but fp crashed sorry :( )
Thanks for the great feedback! I was expecting the worst. I agree that the drums are too overpowering, but I think it's due to the instruments being so quiet rather than the drums being too intense. I'm trying to fix that but I may just trash it and try again. If I wasn't so damn lazy I'd experiment with acapellas.
It's pretty good for a first, my first Dnb tunes were similar. Have you considered taking up Dnb as a primary music focus?
I like it ;)
It sounds quite pleasant, but the beat is a bit skippy for my taste. Also too much sidechain

I like how the bass and melody gels together, the drums I think could've been mixed just a tad lower in the mix though. The part without drums sound pretty sweet, I think it could've benefitted from you straying away from the main melody here and there though, just minor variations thrown in on that melody could keep it fresh and interesting. Overall I think it's a pretty decent track, a good ground that could benefit from some more building on top of it.
