(STILL A WIP) Well over the years I've built up enough knowledge about the various airsoft brands to know what the fuck I'm talking about. The sticky, quite honestly, didn't have enough info, and the help thread had lots of good info as long as you were willing to trawl though 60+ pages looking for one thing. I decided to compile all the info from those threads with my own personal experience. There is no order to the list. AEG Manufacturers Jing Gong (JG): One of the most popular Chinese clone companies. Their products are made from slightly lower quality parts than Marui, but they are very affordable and compatible with just about all Marui upgrade parts. Their G36C is widely regarded as one of the best beginner guns. While some of their guns have metal bodies, most are plastic. They occasionally have some quality control issues. Prices range from $130-200. Tokyo MaruTokyo Marui: This Japanese company invented the gearbox, and thus the AEG. While there have been numerous improvements and changes to the design over the years, all gearboxes are based off the original Marui design. Due to Japanese laws, their guns all have plastic bodies and around 280 FPS. However, there is a huge number of aftermarket parts designed for these guns. TM has some of the most well-made airsoft guns on the market today. Prices are from $250 on up. Classic Army: CA was one of the first companies to make guns that came with metal bodies. At first, their internals were inferior to Marui's, though the quality has vastly improved recently. Their M15 series is very popular and is compatible with most Marui upgrades. Prices are $150 for sportline guns, to $400 for their new blowback series. CYMA: While at first they only made crappy plastic LPEG's, recently they have come to be known as one of the best Chinese clone manufacturers. Their CM032 and up guns are all good choices. Their AKs and M14 are extremely popluar guns and are fully Marui compatible. Prices are about $140-250. Echo 1: This company rebrands CYMA, JG, and various other nameless Chinese companies. They add a warranty to all guns, and sell them for hitched-up prices. Buy the gun straight from the OEM whenever possible. Though they do often throw in extra goodies like hi-caps and decent batteries, the extra cost usually isn't worth it. G&G--Combat Machine is their beginner brand. The Combat Machine M4 is a far better choice than a JG or Echo 1, it is also the basis for many custom guns like AirsoftGI's excellent G4 series. Their plastic bodies are very high quality and are nearly indestructible. If you're getting your first AEG on a budget, get a Combat Machine. They're only $140, or if you want blowback and higher FPS, $175. They also have an AK-47 ($156) and an MP5 ($175) G&G makes full-metal AEG's that are some of the highest-quality guns you can buy. They have metal bodies and well-made internals. There are AR-15s, AKs, and MP5s from this brand. They do not feature blowback on any models. Prices are about $250-290. Top Tech is G&G's "professional" brand. Their only guns are an HK416, M4, M16, and various MP5 variants. They are full metal and feature excellent internals and blowback. These are some of the best AEGs money can buy.
I don't really see the point in this thread. It's in the sticky and in the OP of the questions thread.
What was in the sticky and the OP was a simple ordered list. If you wanted more info then you had to look through the whole help thread trying to find one thing or ask yourself and get yelled at because it already got asked.
Well the problem here is you're missing numerous brands. Where are DBoys, SRC/TSD, G&P, ASGI Custom, Matrix, etc?
Along with the GBB and the shitty "avoid" brands. All noobs need is a simple ordered list of what's good. If they're smart, which is rare, they'll actually use their common sense and follow the advice.
Well the problem here is you're missing numerous brands. Where are DBoys, SRC/TSD, G&P, ASGI Custom, Matrix, etc?
ASGI Custom's are all rebrands, so looking up the base gun would get you better details. You're also forgetting KWA, KSC, WE, WA. And... most people wouldn't consider G&G top tier. They're good, but the best out of the box performers are KWA and Classic Army guns.
You also used the gayest most annoying post format, I didn't even bother reading your wall of text.
If I may suggest a format? MANUFACTURER (ABBREVIATION): Reliability: #/5 Performance: #/5 Cost: $#-# Overall: #/5 SUMMARY Like people have said, new people aren't that smart, and you've written a wall of text. A rating out of 5 (or 10) will help those that just skim the things

eh did none of you read the giant all-caps text at the top saying "STILL A WIP, ILL FINISH THIS TOMORROW"?
Did you not realize that we're giving you suggestions?
ASGI Custom's are all rebrands, so looking up the base gun would get you better details. You're also FORGETTING KWA, KSC, WE, WA...

Well the problem here is you're MISSING numerous brands....
That's not suggesting...
How so? They're suggesting you add more brands. too bad theres no bad reading rating anymore.. :saddowns:
That actually is suggesting. Too bad BlueSaint isn't being active either.
eh did none of you read the giant all-caps text at the top saying "STILL A WIP, ILL FINISH THIS TOMORROW"?
Don't post the thread till it's done then.
I was suggesting, don't take it so personally.
OK the revisions will be done today or tomorrow, I'll add the other brands, and thanks for saying WA. I'd completely forgotten them. Sorry for being a douche earlier, it was like 3AM...take that for what you will. Before anyone asks, I'm not going to do a thing for gear. I know literally nothing about gear companies.
Try to avoid your somewhat extreme G&G bias too, not sure whats going on there. [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline] And dont forget KWA, Real Sword, ICS, SRC, A&K, Ares, etc.
You're ok, I know what that's like, being up later than you want to.
Before anyone asks, I'm not going to do a thing for gear. I know literally nothing about gear companies.
If someone else wants to help me a little bit, especially with lower end stuff, I'd be willing to put something together for gear.
REAL SWORD! FUCK! Thanks, another one I forgot. :/
Example pics might be nice too.
