Looks like the media is trying to create another Trayvon story - Teen dies after being tasered

Anyway, before I post the entire artcle. I've read this story from a lot of different stories and i keep seeing it pop up as media outlet is trying to make it seem as if he was murdered in cold blood or something. Anyway, this is kinda how the event broke down - A teenager named Israel was observed by police spray painting a building at around 4-5AM in the morning (in the article they call it "art", police call it vandalism). Police attempt to make a stop, Israel runs from police, police chase him. At some point in the chase they have Israel dead to rights and the kid ends up making a charge for one of the officers. One officer uses the taser on Israel, he falls and apparently starts having medical distress. EMS was called, responded and he died at the hospital. Now here is where I begin to get angry, many media outlets are trying to say he was murdered, he was only creating art and all that other bullshit. They're literally creating every excuse for him instead of just saying "well he shouldn't have ran and listened." They're also trying to create another race/nationalist issue. On top of it, Depending entirely on the damage his charge would have been a misdemeanor.
Anyway here are a few links and small snips of the story they're trying to spin.
MIAMI BEACH, Florida (Reuters) - Hundreds of friends and supporters of an 18-year-old graffiti artist who died after being shocked by a stun gun during a police chase in Miami Beach gathered on Saturday in a tearful rally at the site where he had been spray-painting.
Colombian-born Israel Hernandez-Llach died on Tuesday after police shocked him with a Taser as he ran away from officers who caught him spray-painting the wall of a shuttered McDonald's.
The teen's father, Israel Hernandez-Bandera has called his son's death "an act of barbarism" and an "assassination of a young artist and photographer."

"There is no justification for this kind of action for a second-degree misdemeanor," said Jason W. Kreiss, a lawyer representing Hernandez-Llach's family, to Reuters. And he may have a point, as grafitti is, generally speaking, only a misdemeanor in Florida if the damage to the property is value to be less than $1,000.
Israel Hernández-Llach, an award-winning artist and Colombian immigrant, died on Tuesday morning after Miami Beach police shot him in the chest with a stun-gun. Hernández, a painter, sculpter, and graffiti artist known as “Reefa,” was spray-painting an unused McDonalds when he was spotted by police officers and took off running

There are plenty more, but they get super stupid.

No we got a bunch of people yelling saying that this should be international news, we're seeing hashtags like justicefor(putnamehere), etc. They're trying to compare it to Zimmerman case.It does not matter if it is considered art, when you're spraying paint on private property you're causing damage (costs a lot to clean up) and therefor committing a crime. Then you run, obstruct, and resist, now you add up all these small charges and you get a felony (Depends on the state). You would think this story is pretty cut and clean but nope, media has to get their 2 cents in. Then the uneducated masses eat it up and want to suddenly fight the man.

this kid has a very unfortunate first name
Here we go again.
It's a tragedy, but not because the police brutally murdered some innocent kid. I see it as a freak accident that ended in the death of a teenager, which is definitely tragic but hardly international news. The police involved did everything they were supposed to do and let's be honest here, they almost certainly feel like shit because they killed somebody.
I don't care if people are making a fuss over it because it's similar to the zimmerman case. There are way too many instances of American police doing stupid shit, and I hope the outcome of it getting media attention is that there are more severe punishments for this and better training
I actually knew this guy in real life, he went to my school and was a member of a club I was also in. He was incredibly talented and although I didn't know him well he seemed like a really nice guy.
The place he did the graffiti on was a vacant building that was already covered in nonsense and regularly had homeless living outside of it. While he probably shouldn't have ran, tasing him or even pursuing him was largely unnecessary. This kid was no more than 130 pounds, he didn't pose a threat to any officer, he wasn't trying to fight the police.
In the end I wouldn't say the police are at fault but instead this is just a tragic misfortune with no one really to blame. The cops didn't mean to kill him, he wasn't trying to hurt anyone, the whole situation just sucks.

Here's a photo of the graffiti to put into perspective the severity of his acts.

RIP Israel.
Because it's a tiny R on the side of a wall of an already disgusting building, it really isn't a big deal.

And?
Vandalism is vandalism
So, he broke the law, tried to flee, and was tazed like any other fleeing criminal would? It's sad that he died, don't get me wrong, but I fail to see how this is "an act of barbarism" and an "assassination of a young artist and photographer" like the quotes in the article describe.

Hardly stupid, if I was a cop I would've done the same thing. A tazer is used to non-lethally disarm someone, the fact that the kid died is just a freak accident. It's not like they were intentionally trying to harm him.
-snip-
RIP Israel.
who the fuck tazes fleeing vandals
for fucks sake tazers are dangerous
you don't taze someone who committed such a minor crime when you're trying to catch them
you taze someone who's dangerous, committed a violent crime or is threatening an officer, not someone who drew on a wall and hurt no one
i swear all US cops need to satisfy some pathological urge to shoot people

tazers kill lots of people
Of course they'd want to spark a new trayvon story, you know how much advertising money they got from the trayvon thing?

Tazers are the go-to non-lethal weapon. They aren't exactly 100% reliable though.
I don't think he was murdered, it was an accident. The police officer's aim was to stop the kid, and arrest him, not kill him. If Pig's description of him is accurate, then he probably wasn't trying to attack the police officer, more trying to dodge past him or evade him or whatever.
As to the size of the "vandalism" or "art" or whatever you want to call it (I'd normally be calling it art, but there isn't much to go by) it's still a crime that he was committing, no matter how big or small. It doesn't matter if he was doing some detailed mural, or a giant cock, he was still braking the law, therefore the officer's actions were reasonable.
That hardly absolves him, he was knowingly worsening the state of someones property without their permission. The police letting him off the hook would have set a poor example and might as well be condoning it to happen, which is NOT something law enforcement should be doing.

What kind of fuck charges at police?
i don't know, what kind of fuck DOES charge at police, Vodkavia?
he was running away

Again, I would've done the same thing. He might've had a weapon, so the cop acted in non-lethal self defense.

Right, I'll remember that next time I'm faced with the option of being hit with a tazer or a round from a 9mm glock handgun.
Because you don't have to use lethal force against someone who isn't endangering anyone
Uh a use of force is a use of force. It wasn't the cops intention to kill the kid, they used the taser as a option. The kid was activity resisting police and had no intention of stopping. Just because someone didn't directly threaten or endanger someone does not not mean they're off the hook..

Sorry, but enforcing the laws and doing your job isn't "doing stupid shit".
You seem like a general "lol american cops are idiots, disgusting pigs" and really have no logic behind your reason. There is no training issue in this case, the taser was used and a freak accident occurred. What training you suggest? Making cops get medical degrees so they can use their super sight to see if a suspect has undiagnosed medical conditions?
i swear all US cops need to satisfy some pathological urge to shoot people
Not all of them. Just the pigs.
Sadly, pigs are the only ones that net the news media any money, so they're the only ones you hear about.
wow why didn't they taze him in the leg fucking stupid pigs
Uhh, do you know how a taser works? It does not matter where you're hit, it does the same thing if you're hit in the chest, butt, back, etc....plus it is like any other weapon...you aim for center mass. Plus it is pretty hard to shoot a moving object, let alone a leg when you only get like 25-30ft of range, plus the fact that the prongs fire an angle so you can get a larger area of affect.
Its a joke apparently, dur.

i'm honestly amazed how desensitised Americans are to police brutality it's really quite remarkable
here in britbong or indeed anywhere in western europe this shit would NOT fly
it's a dumb joke
Kinda hard to tell when you're reading just text and the discussion is serious. With a lot of responses I've been reading and a lot of the people commenting on the actual news sites. So i wouldn't be surprised to see a comment/joke like that.
My bad.

hahaha!! epic lets shitpost and turn an innocent kid who died in an unfortunate encounter with police into a funny meme lol #justice #hashtags_are_epic #lulz!
you guys are aware you can disagree with an innocence campaign without being a twat and joking about the unfortunate death of an 18 year old kid who didn't hurt anybody? i'm not asking you to join in some crusade against police brutality but cmon grow up a little
and by the way, where does it say he charged the officers? the only detail i can find about what lead up to the tasering was this:
The police eventually caught up to him and according to his friends Thiago Souza and Félix Fernández—who were on lookout that morning and witnessed the shooting—he was shoved against a wall and shot in chest with a taser gun. Fernández and Souza also report that the police officers joked about the victim while he was on the ground and gave each other high fives.
