LONDON – Prime Minister David Cameron says Britain will send Typhoon and Tornado fighter jets to help enforce a no-fly zone over Libya.
Cameron told lawmakers Friday that Britain will join a U.N.-authorized operation to stop Moammar Gadhafi from launching "a brutal attack using air, land and sea forces" on the rebel-held city of Benghazi.
Britain, France and NATO were holding emergency meetings Friday after the United Nations approved a no-fly zone over Libya.
British and French planes are expected to take part in the international military action. Cameron said several Arab nations had also offered to take part.
He assured legislators that the U.N. resolution excludes an occupation force "in any form on any part of Libyan territory."

What's with the quote marks? Are you seriously suggesting that they would deliberately kill civilians?
Check it out, england just got rid of its Aircraft carriers, harriers and nimrods, like we have any strike capabilitys...

We still have the Tornados and eurofighters which are more than enough for what they are up against. They can operate out of various bases around the med.
Harriers would not have been sent even if we still had carriers anyway, they are in use

Libya's shit gonna get fucked up.
What are they actually going to do if Libya sends jets up? I can't really see them opening fire on Libyan fighters to be honest.

The Libyans fly SU-22s. Any pilot would be DUMB to take one of those up against a NATO fighter. If they had a brain they'd do what a lot of the pilots did in the gulf war and just refuse and run.

Also that.

But that would mean getting involved in the civil war, I'm just wondering if they actually have any intention of getting involved.

That's kinda the idea of enforcing a no fly zone. They're not just going to fly around in their multimillion dollar fighter jets and watch Libya bomb civilians.

This is how you enforce a no fly zone.
Also the resolution allows way more than just that, they could bomb the shit out of any attacking force as well.

It's not that I think they're incapable of beating the Libyan air force, I just don't think that NATO really have any intention in becoming part of the war.

they sent aircraft and created a no fly zone i think it is pretty obvious that they're getting involved
