People are saying this could be based on AMD tech like PS4/XB1, since AMD claimed they had 3 console deals when the Switch was being hyped up, but NSW is nVidia based. [editline]19th June 2017[/editline] But what the hell are they thinking if they actually make a real console. There is no way they can stand up to Sony or MS.

If it is really going to be another brick you plug into your TV with just a controller in your hand then i fear it won't last long. Both MS and Sony have been messing around with a few gimmicks to make their console unique and so far it all boils down to exclusives. I still have the feeling its going to be a console that only lets you play their old catalog and thats it, like a glorified Classic NES
either a glorified nes classic like others think or another "steam machine"
But what the hell are they thinking if they actually make a real console. There is no way they can stand up to Sony or MS.
They would be hard-pressed. Once upon a time, there were many (somewhat) distinct consoles and manufacturers, but the days of Atari, Sega, SNK and 3DO have faded somewhat. But nowadays, there is very little difference between current hardware, and to be different you'd need to fit into a specific niche that has yet to be occupied. PS4 and Xbone are mostly the same with a few differences, Switch has the benefit of hybrid mobility (though I still feel like they should make a dock that actually boosts the machine's power), iOS and Android are inherently mobile (but their libraries, despite being huge, leave much to be desired, much like the control scheme), and VR is inching closer and closer to being more widespread. Beyond that, I can't think of any new niches except for part of the Switch's niche that has yet to be filled. Because while you can play Switch games on a large TV screen, plugging it into the dock doesn't actually make it run better, and if anything can potentially make it run slightly WORSE. Nintendo has yet to show off any sort of "Expansion Pak" analogue, and probably haven't thought to do so, which means the niche is still open for a newcomer that DOES offer a dock that powers up the base handheld system. If Atari made something like that, it'd probably get shat on and laughed at because Atari is scum and don't deserve to stay in business. But if Sega did it, they'd probably be able to regain a foothold in the console market. Though of course, the console manufacturing aspect of Sega has been dead for nearly two decades, so it probably will fall to an unknown third-party house to design such a device.
