Now they've realized that they made a little mistake and have been giving people eight times the acceptable doses of radiation. The issue only affected the scans of stroke patients so damage was limited to affecting about 200 individuals over the course of the 18 months during which the error in programming went unnoticed. While those patients are experiencing symptoms of radiation poisoning, such as hair loss, there's at least good news in that the FDA has finally issued alerts to hospitals to read the freakin' manuals before fiddling with their equipment.
yep :v: don't you love being a nerd?
Sometimes it is a gift, other times it is a curse.
Hospitals now give you cancer
Reminds me of a programming error in a scanner which caused it to radiate deadly amounts of radiation.
[RELEASE]there's at least good news in that the FDA has finally issued alerts to hospitals to read the freakin' manuals before fiddling with their equipment.[/release] Really? Duh. I don't even attempt to build something from Ikea without reading the manual.
The first thing I thought of was Fallout 3. But yeah, that was a bit stupid of them...

Somebody photoshop the rad-meter from Fallout 3 onto a heart monitor.

Oh dear lord this is terrible. 8x the safe dose!? I'm guessing the machine would come nowhere near the safe dose normally, so they must have bumped it up hugely.
Still better than if they gave out for example 8 times the dose of pharmaceuticals.
Still better than if they gave out for example 8 times the dose of pharmaceuticals.
What are you hoping for, 8x the regular dose of morphine?
