Should I switch from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7? I've not had issues with Vista up to now, had it since it came out. Is Windows 7 that much better, or that much different? Buying it and reloading my PC with it isn't a concern... Just curious if it's a waste of time... I'm talking full version from the store, not the beta. I do a lot of gaming personally... I've heard this is better for that since it has less overhead.
Yes.

Yes.
It's more optimised and not so buggy. Do get.
Optimised as in like... Less useless crap in the background that simply stopping services and turning off "features" won't fix, like in older versions?
It's better than XP and Vista by a long shot, it's fast, lightweight, efficient and shiny, so yeah it's worth it.
Yes
no get a mac because i saw in there commercials that the windows gives you lots of viruss and they still have a lot of bugs so dont get itf

I'm running Windows 7 beta (I'm getting the release as soon as I have teh dough), and its way faster than Vista. When it comes to general speed, the beta currently falls around the same performance as Windows XP, but thats the beta, in the release edition, microsoft is bound to release som hotfixes and patches that drastically increase performance. I'd go with Win 7 if I were you, you got DirectX 10 and 11 support, a nice UI that doesn't lag like shit, nice gaming performance, and better compatibility mode (if your CPU supports it).
Short: yes Long: hell yes

How about compatability? I assume that the general rule is... If it runs on Vista, it runs on Win7?
