So I have a question, I have looked on the internet to find a way to fix old carts that the contacts have gone past the point of just cleaning them to fix them. Use this an example and what I will be working on is two old gameboy color games. They do not work. I have tried cleaning with rubbing alcohol, and a small pencil eraser. I saw people saying to use a metal polish which may work or a burnishing tool which I don't have. One of the games is so bad that it looks like the contacts don't even exist on the board any more. Is there any way to remake the contacts completely or would I have to remake the whole circuit bored and transfer the rom chips and so on? Also is there any way to test the chips on the board?
Here is a pic of the two games

As you can see corrosion isn't the big issue because they are relative clean maybe polish to make it better but you can see how worn it is.

Now this one is bad. If you look at the very bottom of the contacts you can see how they look like they are receding upward especially compared to the top image which ins't as bad. That's why this one I think no matter what I do its not a fix thing rather I have to remake the contacts.
It looks like the gold plating is getting worn off leading to poor contact with the oxidized copper, you could try replate it with a gold plating solution or you could tin the pads with regular tin / lead solder, not as durable long term but it'll work.
That might be what I was looking for. Would using a gold plat work for nes and sega games too? I wonder about nes cause I know its a different composition.
Should do, I'd scrub the contacts with a fine wire wool to remove the copper oxide and any loose gold before applying the plating.
Ok will do thanks for the info!
