My parents have on of these at their place. The interface is absolutely aweful. It runs on top of the normal TV interface It has a button on the remote to start it up. When you press it, all controls are locked for about 20 seconds while the interface starts up. This happens everytime you want to use the "Smart" environment. The available apps are crap, the web browser is slow and unresponsive and things like skype don't work without a special USB webcam which has been marked up to hell and back. The only redeeming quality for that TV is the 3D, which is really good, and the fact that it can play full HD movies off a USB stick or network in almost any format.
And here I am in 2004 with my CRT SDTV blasting radiation through my eyes.

Oh no, I have to wait 20 seconds for it to start up? Whatever shall I do!

Stupid goddamned casuals and companies dumbing down their shit.
can't wait for time machines so i can show people 30 years ago the CES conference and cause massive amounts of suicides because nobody wants to live in a world without hope
I still haven't seen a 4K screen in person yet.
Have one of those TVs, 55" 3D with webcam for Skype and stuff. To me it's an normal flatscreen TV but the remote for it is damn weird. You get two remotes, one with the normal IR signal and the other one is connected with the TV via Bluetooth. That second remote has an touchpad and an microphone built in it. You can use the microphone for using the voice-control stuff only, which is sad because when I tried Skype on the TV and the TV is like over 5 meters away from you you have to start talking loud because there's another microphone in the TV itself. A little confusing and annoying but I won't use Skype on it anyway. One little fun thing is the motion control mode. With it you can do stuff with your hands as if you were holding an Wii mote. I only tried it for playing Angry Birds on the TV. Interesting idea with the appstore, but it's just not really useful. For that we have smartphones. Smart enough for me.

I hit the smart button and everyone loads fast and same with watching netflix. Internet browsing is a bit slow, but I see no point in that anyway. This is on my new 3dtv and my dads 3 year old smarttv.

And even more annoying is that they don't have language packs for it. I mean it has all the language needed like german, english and even those that are not often spoken and more ignored nowadays, but why not have at least russian in it? Where I live right now is crowded with russian people and almost everyone of them can buy one of those TVs, maybe even twice. So why are they so rude and didn't added something simple as that? Rude Samsung, rude.
I just uninstalled most of the apps so it doesn't update them.
