Mechanical Engineering major Alan Lin was found Sunday In Newport Beach Riverside - Friends and family were mourning today the death of a 22-year-old Irvine man and UC Riverside student whose body was found floating in Newport Bay off Newport Beach. Alan Lin's body was found by a passerby at 7:16 a.m. Sunday in the Rhine Channel near the 600 block of Lido Park Drive, according to the coroner's office and Newport Beach police Sgt. Steve Burdette. Lin was last seen leaving Rudy's Pub and Grill in Newport Beach about 1 a.m. Feb. 5, after which his family reported him missing. His body was found about three blocks away in the bay. His loved ones set up a Facebook page Friday, seeking leads to find him. The page was updated Sunday: "Alan was found this morning 2/13/11. Thank you everyone who was a part of Alan's life and all the concerned people on Facebook. Alan was a great kid and he loved everyone. May he rest in peace. I love you Alan and you will be missed dearly." The cause of death has not been determined.
Even though people die every day, it's a tragedy to see someone with a bright future disappear. Thank you everyone who was a part of Alan's life and all the concerned people on facebook. Alan was a great kid and he loved everyone. May he rest in peace. I love you Alan and you will be missed dearly. A fun memory of Alan: When he was a kid, i taught him how to do his laundry. I miss you Alan, I miss hearing your voice. Cause of death? Or, did he just slip and .. Drown?
he probably tried to start a fight with the wrong guy
If that's the case then that just shows how horrible people can be :/
I can link the Facebook page. The family is a friend of a friend of mine. [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] Oh nevermind, it's there already. [editline]15th February 2011[/editline] My bad.
All of his hopes and dreams, washed away.
All of his hopes and dreams, washed away.
That was bad and you should feel bad. It always sucks to hear news like this.
There must be more to this story. An Asian guy barhopping by himself in Newport Beach?
How did he die?
:frown:
How did he die?
Cause of death hasn't been determined yet, so we'll just have to wait for an update to this tragic story :(
All of his hopes and dreams, washed away.
I stared at this post for a second, after realizing this was a pun my face went :geno: ... but then I laughed, even though it's horrible.
Newport Beach police spokesman Sgt. Steve Burdette said Lin had been at Rudy's Pub and Grill with a party of about 15 people. A surveillance tape showed him leaving the pub alone at 1 a.m. Feb. 5. A passerby spotted Lin's body floating in a channel about 200 yards from the pub at 7:16 a.m. Sunday. Burdette said it appeared the body had been in the water "for possibly a week." An Orange County coroner's spokeswoman said Lin died from saltwater drowning. There was no significant trauma to the body, she said. Toxicology tests are pending.
http://www.pe.com/localnews/stories/PE_News_Local_D_lin15.254fbd4.html
Well, I'm sure someone in the group of fifteen can answer at least the question of "how wasted was he when he left?". Plus, the video will show how much he was drinking. Plus, how was he going to get home?
I don't understand how he drowned, that's a bit odd.
