I'm looking to have a camera network in my home in order to keep tabs on my little brother (he's two years old). Is there any way to set up a live feed to several rooms in my house without needing a computer in that room? I have a bunch of cheap webcams leftover from all my friends who upgraded, but they are all wired.
Are you willing to spend money on this set up?
Indeed I am.
Why don't you just get off your computer and watch your little brother.

Ipads, iphones, and imacs. buy tons, tape them to walls, ceilings, put them on desks, everywhere. link them all up to one of the 10 imacs you should have bought and use that as a monitoring station. /stevejobs
Short of a professional security system, you will need to buy some wireless webcams (hopefully you can find ones with plugs, battery changing would be a major pain in the ass otherwise. if there are chargable wireless webcams with usb interface, you can buy a socket converter that should allow you to get power from a wall socket into the camera.) and hook them up to a computer somewhere else in the house, where you should be able to monitor them all with the correct software.

What you need is a DVR and some security camera's.
You will hook up the DVR to a monitor and a router (if you want to view the camera's from an IP)
I'm talking from experience because I helped my father hook up his security system for his business store after it had been robbed. We purchased a really nice setup from newegg. We even had detectives look at our security cam's and they said that our cameras were similar to the ones the bank uses.

(that is the set up that we bought)
For some reason, I feel like you don't need something this advanced. What do you think?

My boss bought four of them to replace the old ones in our office. For the price they are remarkably good.
