• Windows 7 Boot Slowdowns

I've had Win7 installed for ~2 months now. When I turn on the computer, it will post, splash screen for my bios will show up and then windows will kick in. It gets to the "Starting Windows..." part and does something. (Pulse I think? I'm not sure). No windows flag next to it. It hangs for a REALLY long time here. (2 minutes). Then the parts of the windows flag come in, do the little "poof" animation and the rest of the computer starts up fine. Anyone know what's going on here? It didn't always take this long to boot. Hmm.... Hard drive issue could be. [editline]10:18PM[/editline] Or a virus [editline]10:18PM[/editline] Or a bad installation

Defrag or maybe try Chkdsk
Wouldn't be the first time I've had issues.
Or a virus
I'd have to find myself a pretty nasty piece that does stuff during OS boot...
Or a bad installation
Worked fine for the first month and a half.
Defrag or maybe try Chkdsk
Defragging now. [editline]03:28PM[/editline] Holy crap. 103gb fragmented files and I've only used 180gb total. :v:
I had the exact same problem, i unplugged the SATA cables on my HDD's and that fixed it.
I'd like to use my HDD thanks. :)
My option is grei's option. Defrag and Chkdsk.
Defrag fixed it, thanks all!
