Earlier today, The New Yorker published a story reporting that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami earlier this month. The Tokyo based game company is denying this report, saying that Hideo Kojima is still an employee and is currently “on vacation.” Konami denied that he has left the company. “Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work.” When asked about the farewell party, Konami replied, “We’re not sure what kind of thing this was.”
Source
I wish this whole catastrophe was some bad translation error, but sadly i don't think thats the case.
do they honestly think they're fooling anyone
"He's just sleeping!"
why would they even want him around after all the so-called money he cost them on making MGSV? make up your minds already
If there's one thing Konami is good at nowadays it's making themselves look like morons.
Well Kojimbles' contract doesnt end until December (iirc) so hes probably just off on 'vacation'/ leave until his final termination because all his work on mgs is done. Its not like konami have denied hes leaving/tried to trick people before. It makes sense to me, I dont really get all the hubbub around it?
Isn't it also taboo to fire someone in Japan? Like all the reports from a while ago from Konami themselves that they send people to work in packaging facilities rather than fire them from their studios This is probably some weird thing where they don't want to be frowned upon by the rest of society
They're keeping him in a nanomachine-induced coma, a shining light to all game developers worldwide.

Could be wrong but I remember reading this a few months back.

Unless he has received a letter of termination then he can classify it as that

I thought it was confirmed he was leaving the company months ago? He had a fucking going away party. Are they really trying to convince people he works at a place he doesn't work at :v:
This is like your parents trying to tell you your dog just went to doggy camp for the summer and thats why hes gone. After you saw your dog get run over.
kojima is vacationing at the farm, fultoning the goats
No! We don't actually kick him out ungratefully until December! Because that's so much better Konami.
okay what maybe it's because they saw how much TPP made but why are they saing this
Part of me wants to think that konami is going to be expand on TPP, and that there going to do it the old expansion pack style. So maybe this is just a big break for the team until they start working on all those missing chapters we've heard about? Idk, maybe I'm being too optimistic.
They're trying to play us like a damn fiddle!
I wonder if he doe'nt make up his own company who would he work for Sony? I would love for him to work on Resident Evil with Capcom but I am not sure if Capcom is a good work everment I know they made bad moves in the past but I have no idea how they treat there workers,.?
They probably removed his brain from body and are using it to power the metal gear pachinko game
He's just taking a well deserved vacation, some time off. that's why we removed his name off of the game's advertising, duh
if this is another ARG I'm gonna punch a wall
That's funny.
Don't worry guys, Kojima is just pining for the fjords.
if this is another ARG I'm gonna punch a wall
Only thing close, and holy fuck is this a stretch, is that this whole thing could be a cute little arg type deal. Konami really IS getting rid of their AAA department. Whats stopping them from making a Phantom Studio that isnt straight up Konami, but under them, that does do the AAA game making. So this "hes on vacation thing" could make sense, Konami says hes just on vacation till he gets this new studio that isnt really ingrained with Konami but a small part of it. The chances of this being the case are like 0% though. Honestly, the best we can do is just wait till the MGO3 PC January Patch, if by then nothing crazy comes out of all this then it would be safe to say that what we got is what we got and this is just a shitty and weird part of gaming history.
Konami executives have shot themselves in the foot so many times now that I'm surprised they still have feet.
i honestly can't tell if these stuffy old japanese suits are trying to have jokes or if they actually think they're pulling the wool over us
Konami executives have shot themselves in the foot so many times now that I'm surprised they still have feet.
Well it made sense why they're doing this. They're trying to get gambling legalized in Japan so they have to appear family friendly and wholesome to fight the gambling taboo but the problem is all of their franchises minus PES are absolutely not for kids. Of course that used to make sense until they made the silent hill and castlevania pachinko machines. Now I have no idea what the hell they're thinking
