Battlefield Bad Company 2 Players Prefer PC To Console

These days, multiplatform games tend to be dominated by console gamers. Modern Warfare 2, for example, has a relatively tiny PC-playing community. Not so for Battlefield Bad Company 2!
DICE associate producer Barrie Tingle has revealed that at the moment, during the week of the game's retail release, more people are playing the PC version of the game than both the 360 and PS3 editions combined.
Sure, Battlefield is a franchise with its spiritual home on the PC, but still. It's nice to see not everybody has abandoned the ol' mouse and keyboard in favour of the couch and a Dualshock 3.

Surprising?
No.
Well everyone who faithfully stuck with the boycott of Modern Warfare 2 moved onto Bad Company 2.
Not a lot of numbers, but theres probably a good amount.
I want to see the sales of each version compared
lol there was a boycott of modern warfare 2
Not surprised in the least, I even preordered BC2. Although I think the community is smaller, because I don't see many people online for BC2 on pc surprisingly.

it went well
This doesn't mean BC players like PC more than Xbox, it means PC gamers like BC more than Xbox gamers do.
This is like my friend who insists that if a game has a lower metascore on PC than on Xbox that PC GAMING IS DEAD. No, it just means the PC critics were more harsh in their reviews.
Poor 360 and ps3 gamers, perhaps someone should console them.
If you define playing as trying to join a working bloody server, then yes.

Wait a week, it'll clear up a bit then.
I would love Dice if I didn't have to click "okay" 3 times to log in.
Not really surprised by this.
Dedicated servers > Matchmaking

In a nutshell.
But, speaking of dedicated servers, didn't MW2 have dedicated servers in the code and the developers disabled it? And then the pirates found it and enabled dedicated servers on the cracked PC version? :v:
I play it on the consoles cus my computer is to crappy to run it.
:crying:
The difference Dedicated Servers make
Pc games are always better, the problem with pc gaming is that you need to by a new fucking pc every year to keep up to date. The Xbox however will play your game no matter what and won't go out of date after 1 year just because nividia decided to bring out yet another graphics card series.
It's a very console game still imo.
I mean you can't even fucking lay down!
It's a good game but I feel a lot of console influence on it, not the true successor to Battlefield 2.

I think you are talking about a Mac.
I buy a new graphics card every 3 years or so.
And the Xbox doesn't nearly look as good as my PC :smug:
Not surprised at all, it looks 2 times better on a PC. Also you don't have those annoying black bars on the screen. God this game is so amazing, blowing up buildings is so fun.

Not really. If you spend $800-1000 wisely on a PC it can last you 3-5 years with minor upgrades.
I fucking hate those stupid little analog sticks! Whats the point in spending like 2-3 seconds trying to aim at someone when I can use a mouse and do it in 1 second. Console designers should get off their high horse and just allow people to use a mouse and keyboard with their games.

I can aim in one second, it's not that hard. It's called practice.
It's like saying why can't I ride a bike when you've never done it before.

The consoles' graphics looking like medium graphic settings of the PC version doesn't make the game any less fun. The largest difference is the 32 players on PC vs 24 on the consoles, but it's the same game otherwise.
As soon as I upgrade my PC in about two months, I'll be getting a new copy for it in addition to the 360 version I have now (my rig can't run it so had to buy for it)

A mouse isn't perfect for everything, consoles are designed for some games and PCs are for others.

Analog stick is nice for racers.

Exactly, and it works out cheaper in the long run than a console anyway since with a console you're likely to still need a PC/laptop that does basic tasks in conjunction with it so add that to the cost of the console. Plus console games have subsidiary fees added to the price of games and such for the hardware which explains the larger initial investment when purchasing a PC, you actually buy the hardware straight out.

but it's only about £200 for an xbox which will probably last you alot longer.

Yeah, when it fucking works.
I bought my current computer for 300 bucks used 2 years ago and it plays source games on full graphics and games like BC2, ME2, BS2, etc on medium. The only upgrades i've done are a bigger hard drive, windows vista 64, and a sound card, so don't tell me an xbox will last me longer.

Yep.
My PC's 2 years old and it can still run 99% of recently released games maxed flawlessly.

I can buy a PC much faster than an XBOX for $200.
You don't even have to upgrade it really. Just run your games on the same low/medium settings the consoles play them at, with no AA.
