USDA abruptly purges animal welfare information from its website
The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Friday abruptly removed inspection reports and other information from its website about the treatment of animals at thousands of research laboratories, zoos, dog breeding operations and other facilities.
In a statement, the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service cited court rulings and privacy laws for the decision, which it said was the result of a “comprehensive review” that took place over the past year. It said the removed documents, which also included records of enforcement actions against violators of the Animal Welfare Act and the Horse Protection Act, would now be accessible only via Freedom of Information Act Requests. Those can take years to be approved.
Red flag. I bet they're trying to hide something.
Now we know: Making America Great Again means zero transparency, zero accountability, zero regulations, and a corporate oligarchy in control of the executive and most of congress. But at least Lying Killary didn't rig the election hard enough to win, right?

-wait whoops-
Mmm asbestos burgers
Whelp, about time to go vegan
No knowing what manner of terrible things we're going to see. The meat industry is one of the businesses that needs the most strict investigation. Cruelty and adulteration are going to be prevalent under this administration.

The USDA does more than that. The USDA is responsible for ensuring food is healthy and tracking down contamination. The "USDA inspected" sticker on your beef doesn't just mean that your beef came from a cruelty free place, it means your beef was found to be free of bacteria, parasites, and all other sorts of things.

Those bacteria and parasites were part of much needed nutritional standards, it's about time we got them back.

That's what I am concerned about. Going to go back to the pre Upton Sinclair days
Alum in our bread, lye in our milk, and sawdust in our sausages
Jesus christ I guess buying local really will be the next big thing.
I wish I could explain to my dad how bad this is but he'd probably go "you fucking liberal he is just creating jobs!!"

Maybe the next Upton will achieve both his goals when writing The Jungle 2: Electric Boogaloo.
It just occurred to me. Trump wants to ditch inspection and safety standards. I wouldn't be surprised if he attempts to entirely eliminate the USDA, the FDA, and the EPA.
How well do you think food exports to Canada are going to fare when the producers are no longer able to guarantee that they meet Canadian food standards (which very likely were based on USDA standards prior to King Cheeto becoming elected)? Not even NAFTA will save America then, because we sure as shit aren't going to just accept shipments of maggoty meat and flour cut with sawdust and sand. That isn't going to bring jobs back to America.
The supermarkets around me are full of produce grown in California because it's cheaper than greenhouse vegetables grown in Canada. I can't wait until all of that produce either disappears or becomes unwise to consume because of the deregulation of food health safety mechanisms in the US.
[T]he meat would be shoveled into carts, and the man who did the shoveling would not trouble to lift out a rat even when he saw one—there were things that went into the sausage in comparison with which a poisoned rat was a tidbit. There was no place for the men to wash their hands before they ate their dinner, and so they made a practice of washing them in the water that was to be ladled into the sausage. There were the butt-ends of smoked meat, and the scraps of corned beef, and all the odds and ends of the waste of the plants, that would be dumped into old barrels in the cellar and left there. Under the system of rigid economy which the packers enforced, there were some jobs that it only paid to do once in a long time, and among these was the cleaning out of the waste barrels. Every spring they did it; and in the barrels would be dirt and rust and old nails and stale water—and cartload after cartload of it would be taken up and dumped into the hoppers with fresh meat, and sent out to the public’s breakfast.

Can't wait until the Meat Inspection Act and the Food and Drug Act are rescinded!

What needs to happen is for them to not only be torn down, but made an example of. Have something happen that would cause would-be so-called oligarchs fear the notion of screwing the populace. Make them DREAD the notion of trying to fuck with the everyman.

If you can, I say just leave him to rot. He doesn't sound like the kind of person anyone should have to share a house with.
the Horse Protection Act

It is illegal to show a horse, enter it at a horse show, or to auction, sell, offer for sale, or transport a horse for any of these purposes if it has been sored.
Well atleast we can still google what this one was.

The only way I see that happening is if America plunges itself into the modern equivalent of The Terror from the French Revolution. The purge would be bloody and devastating, and I feel the union would fracture before it was over. The rich would turn into warlords.
The only peaceful option would be if the sleeping giant woke, and America's people managed to somehow bridge the titanic rift between political sides and present the Federal government with a bipartisan ultimatum to burn away every trace of corruption and political lobbying. There would need to be bipartisan national strikes and a landslide defeat of establishment candidates/incumbents in the 2018/2020 elections.

Considering he straight up said he wanted to get rid of the FDA during his campaign and considering the EPA is already under attack by both Tinyhands and his corporate bitch boy cronies I'm more surprised he hasn't attempted it already via executive order

Isn't the US the largest food exporter in the world? Without proper regulations I can see that dropping fairly quickly. Geez...

It's okay, it's just the toxins in the food affecting his brain
In a few years there won't be complaints
Lets put lead back in our gas.
Trump is fuckin disgusting. In the most literal sense of the word. He's actually gonna make it legal for food markets in poor areas to be full of rotting, diseased food.
What a foul person.
Quit the drama holy shit
ok, why?
tell us how this isnt actually so bad
Alex Jones is going to make so much money when there actually is serious amounts of shit in our food and coal in our water.
I can't live without my daily steak, don't de-regulate muh meats, for God's sake. What will I do after they become full of parasites, switch to tofu like some damn hippy?
