Hi. I was playing COD4 on my desktop PC for awhile. I stopped playing for awhile then when I tried to play it again today I got this error: Error during initialization:Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled. Nothing about the computer has changed at all. Just haven't played COD for awhile. Please if I cant fix it tell me if there is a way around it. Thanks in advance.
try reinstalling drivers
Ok. Did that but it didn't work. Anything else?
What kind of card do you have? Everywhere I read about this error, it claims the card lacks alpha blend. I googled "Video card or driver doesn't support separate alpha blend, glow will be disabled."
Nvidia GeForce FX 5500. It used to run great with no problems. I don't know what could of happened.
Been researching, try using a program called RivaTuner:

I've played it on nForce integrated graphics. I've also played it on a similar card to the FX 5500.

I've been looking around and I still cant find a way around it. Any other ideas? Any at all?
Have you tried using the on board graphics?
That should provide a good indicator of whether it's a GPU fault. Of course if it doesn't load up when you're using integrated graphics...

I don't understand how that would work considering that the on-board is worse then my card.
I don't mean for you to actually attempt to play it. Merely for you to load it up and see whether you get the error. If you don't then we're half way to solving the problem.

And how would I go about enabling my on-board graphics? ^_^
