Do You Believe In Homosexuality as an Initial 'Disorder' or as a Result of Being Raised?

This is not a thread to slander/discriminate against gays. If you wish to do so, turn on your incognito mode and visit some other site, which is meant for such discussions.
Anyway, I'm just curious: do you think that people are predetermined to be homosexuals from the moment they develop into a conscious being, or do you think that people are raised differently, which develops "homosexual tenancies". I don't mean that someone is necessarily raised to be homosexual on purpose. I mean tiny, subliminal things such as being given pink clothing or always having a girl as a childhood playmate (for guys).
I guess it all boils down to the philosophical question of nature vs. nurture. This thread should get some hardcore philosophizing going, since there are no solid, scientific answers as of yet. It isn't even definite if people will ever get an answer to this question, since the brain is a clusterfuck of theories and not that many facts in terms of how it "thinks".
I do apologize for using the word "disorder" to describe the thread. I don't mean it's a disease, I just couldn't word this properly. :/
It honestly isn't proven it is Genetic or Behavioral, but i believe it to be Both.
some people Actually are born it, some are doing it for other reasons
i could understand if someone went Gay/Lesbiean because their mother/Father was abusive thus thinking that the Opposite sex is that evil.
It's how they're raised, noone is "born" something, if thats the case, I was born God.
Really depends on how they're raised if they were given shitloads of interactment with girly stuff with their mothers or whatnot.
People are varying levels of bisexual, not gay or straight.
I would say it's a little bit of both.
Well, there are those who argue that some people are born gay. But this is just silly, because we are made in God’s image. So if someone were born gay, that would mean God is part gay, and he is definitely not. He is 100% hetero. God is all Man.
I never understood the point of this argument. It doesn't matter what caused it or if there was a cause.
They're gay, so?

But god created Adam first, so he might be a bit gay!!! Just sayin!!
I posted a huge wall of text on the subject about a week ago. It's both.
I think it based off of what the individual was raised with as a child, because as a child we really don't care about sexual preferences.

Haha, I love you Craptasket. On topic, I really have no solid opinion on this. I think it's just a preference, I enjoy Men and Women equally, while lets say, my best friend strictly enjoys women. Although I have been exposed to homosexual behavior as a child, I don't think it effected my attraction to both genders.
I don't see why people use "they were born gay" as an argument.
No "unsure" or "both" poll option?
I believe that everybody is more or less born heterosexual. Sexuality is not something that is set in stone, in my mind. Nobody is either completely heterosexual or completely homosexual; it's all dependent on social factors.
I think it's both, but I think the way you were raised effects it more.
How about we let gay people speak for themselves.
-snip-
There's no such thing as being "born gay", everyone is born naked, empty... living is what contributes to your "You".
So I'd say sexuality comes a bit from your parents and your surroundings, someone raised by open parents will obviously be more open to the subject, and that will make him more prone to accept it and make his own decision, and that decision will be influenced by many other things that happened to him, and so it goes.
And off course his nature is to procreate, but the mind can be stronger than your body, and acting abnormally is what makes us humans.
I can't say much on the matter though, would be better if they speak for themselves.

genetic dispositions motherfucker, have you learned about them?
There are billions of people on earth. Some are born gay, some become gay. It's really a non-issue in my opinion.
long story short who in there right fucking mind gives a fuck
Sexuality is a fluid, ever-changing part of a person. It's not set in stone. It has to do with many, many factors in a person's life. That's what I believe.

Yes but they don't simply rule over you, it just affects a little, 1/8 of the whole thing. We are too social to driven only by instinct.

god is a decorator
100% hetero my ass

And you know this how, exactly?
It really doesn't matter, mental disorder, chemical imbalance, unnatural, abnormal, or not...it doesn't matter. Homosexuals are no different from you or I and we shouldn't treat them like they are different.

I'm a specialist, trust me.
No but this a thread where we post our thoughts, at least that's how the OP wanted i think.
eh, I'd say its more of something that's picked up via experience.
Everyone has the instinct to reproduce, and its done with the other sex.
Same sex sex is the result of severe negative response to the opposite sex or an extreme liking of, hence "becoming" the other sex by (trying to) reproduce with the other sex. Hard to explain.
X wants to become Y
X is now Y
The new Y has sex with X, but really they are both XX
The only logical conclusion is that both answers are correct.
I don't think homosexuality is something you're born with, but I feel like that viewpoint has a lot of negative stigma attached to it.
I do not believe homosexuality is "wrong" or anything like that, and I don't believe only negative life factors (abusive parents, blah blah blah) cause it. I simply believe it is something that develops when certain people are put in certain environments. I hate how people think I'm insulting them when I say I don't believe homosexuality is something you're born with, humans are just malleable creatures. How we develop is almost completely dependent on the environment we are raised in. A certain kind of person can be raised with a loving father and be straight, and a different kind of person can be raised with a loving father and become gay. It's just a roll of the dice to me.
What if I agree with neither? I'm pansexual and I came to my place as a choice. I eventually realized that gender has nothing to do with what sparks deeper emotional connections. Who you choose to allow yourself to become close to in such a way, does. Obviously, two guys who view themselves as straight are likely to never explore or experiment with such a relationship with each other.
I don't say this as fact, merely as my view-point. I don't think people are 'born' or 'raised' homosexual or heterosexual. It is simply the culture that they are raised in determines who they feel is 'right' to explore more intimate and sexual relationships with. I've seen plenty of heterosexual men go homosexual, and then back again. Same goes with women. I really don't see it as a disorder in the slightest, since this sort of thing has happened both in nature and human society for ages.
That's just my off-hand two cents.
