Hello, Since holidays are coming soon i was looking to upgrade my PSU/GPU. But ive run into a problem. I want a modular power supply, So i was looking at this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182263 But as you can see that power supply is only 650w. (all i really need is 650w) The card i want is an r9 280x, But the card says it requires 700w. Is the 650w enough to power it anyway? Thanks
650W is more than enough assuming you don't have one of those ridiculous 220W TDP processors (the tdp is less than 300 watts), but you can get this for the same price: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-120pg0750gr which I recommend you do. I recommend the MSI Twin Frozr R9 280X for the card (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9280xgaming3g).
My cpu is the i5-3450 3.5ghz. So as long as the 12v rail is enough i can power what ever?
Yeah. 650 and 750 watt will handle almost any single GPU rig.
Im not sure i quite understand that EVGA SuperNOVA. Whats up with the handle on the back? Other then that looks good.
Hadn't noticed the handle, but it's a pretty well reviewed power supply.
Also, that psu is has multiple rails. 4 rails @20A
