[quote]Ater months of speculation about Bruce Jenner’s changing appearance, the Olympic gold medalist confirmed in an interview that aired Friday night that he is indeed in the process of transitioning from male to female.
"Yes for all intents and purposes, I’m a woman," Jenner said in the highly publicized ABC special with Diane Sawyer. "My brain is much more female than it is male. . .It’s hard for people to understand that, but that’s what my soul is."

Knowing the family, it's hard to tell if this is just a PR stunt or not.

Considering his appearance has changed, it'd be taking it a little far.
I mean, he's taken estrogen for 18 months. Apparently it's already tough for actual transgendered people to get hormones.
I thought you posted an old article, but jeez Vanity Fair is late. This was news like a month ago.

No, he hasn't confirmed it before now.

The family is known for altering their appearances.

Are you sure? I distinctly remember hearing about this already.

According to the linked article, it was all speculation on the media's part. The wikipedia article didn't even mention it until the interview aired.
Im happy for Jenner, and glad this is all out in the open now, rather than having to listen to the tabloid speculations all over the place.
Kanye was actually the one to convince Kim about it. “Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world. And I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world. I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself. They don’t mean anything.” Props to Ye and props to Brenda

shit, I thought I heard somewhere she changed her name to Brenda, but it seems he wants to stick with male pronouns

A lot of people have been saying Belinda for a while now as well. Bruce seems to have decided to hold off on the name change for now, supposedly to avoid some media buzz.
Bruce said during the interview that he/him pronouns would be fine for the interview, but this would be last time we would see them under this name and with those pronouns. I think as such she would be preferable, but its probably reasonable to use either until Bruce makes another appearance and clarifies a solid choice if name and pronouns.
sad they're 65 already
Good for Bruce he(or she I don't know when we should call them he or she TBH) shouldn't be bashed just because of his association with the Kardashians.

Even though Yeezy can be a colossal asshole at times, there are moments like this where his heart genuinely seems to be in the right place.

With modern medicine, they honestly might still have another 2 decades of life. That's plenty of time to get hormone treatment and have it take full effect.
He's also a Republican.
I never understand this stuff. Not to be rude but who really gives a shit? Just live your life and do what makes you happy lol. Be gay or whatever you want there's no reason for all this PR stuff. But then agian I could care less what anyone else in the world does with their life unless their forcing their beliefs on me and other people.

Considering the amount of stalking that goes on with people that are in the public eye, I'm willing to bet a lot of people do. Add to it, this isn't exactly a usual thing for people in Bruce's position. Even coming out gay is still a pretty big deal.

It sort of gives the movement a bit more legitimacy in the eyes of some people if their favourite athlete/artist/important figure comes out as transgender/gay/etc etc etc. There's nothing really wrong with a "PR stunt" like this since it may actually help change people's opinion on things like this.
Never heard of the fellow. But if he wants to come out as a transgender, good on him for standing up for what he thinks is right.
-snip, just read a related article in the link-

He is a former Olympic athlete and the step-father of Kim Kardashian, a major television personality

i agree if that theres nothing wrong with this is he actually is transgender, but i wouldn't go as far to say that this can only change people's opinions in a positive way.
some people will accuse him of faking, naturally. i feel like a lot of people will feel like this is just using being transgender to cause controversy, which is arguably a bad thing.
I saw him doing an interview on CNN today and was really confused for a moment because the big bolded headline below him was "I'M NOT GAY. I'M HETEROSEXUAL" and I was kinda like "yeah no shit I guess" until I understood the context :v:

It allows for other people who may feel like they're not the sex they were born as to come out more easily, also helps out closet homosexuals and lesbians. The more celebrities who come out, the more teenagers, children and even adults will feel that they'll be accepted if they decide to come out.
Also he's a big name and as said, stalking has been going on for months.

Holy shit.

Kanye, imo, is largely misrepresented by the media, and I can unequivocally say that so many other musicians/people are worse than him

having an ego does not automatically make you the avatar of shitperson
The problem with Kanye is that he's as talented as all hell, and he knows it.
Which makes him a bit of an egotistical asshole, but he's alright when he's not being all full of himself.

Kanye might have his douchey moments, but from my knowledge he's not a bigot. He's just confident, as one tends to be with millions in the bank.
