This runs Gmod on high, but has lag spikes here and there--to give an idea. I guess you'd need a newer mobo for cpu compatibility and gfx card.. more RAM to run background applications. But it runs! You don't need an OS, so you could build decent computer

Should be enough to run both server and GMod at the same time.
Why are you recommending AMD? There's no point of recommend it with the Pentium G and i3 going around.
Well, for a small budget like his the best quad core was the AMD one. Also he wants to have GMod and a SRCDS server running at the same time, both Pentium G and i3 are dual core.
i3 has hyperthreading and outperforms the 965 in nearly all aspects
i3 has hyperthreading and outperforms the 965 in nearly all aspects
And to back this up, here's some AnandTech benchmarks: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/102?vs=289
i3 has hyperthreading and outperforms the 965 in nearly all aspects
Yeah, but when your on tight budget, AMD is a good temporary.
Yeah, but when your on tight budget, AMD is a good temporary.
Its not temporary though, and if he wanted to switch to an intel, he would have to spend even more money to get a mobo with Intel compatibility.
