I have finished building my first computer today, and it worked perfectly fine. then, i noticed that one of the heatsink screws was a little loose, so i removed the mobo, put on some better thermal paste while i was at it, and re attatched the cpu fan. then i plug in all the wires where i remember they go exactly (i wrote numbers on the cords) and then i press the power button and.... nothing displays on the screen. the usb devices are getting no power, and anything that has to do with output (power, sound, usb, ect) is no longer working. what could have caused this? i think it may be the mobo but im not sure....
Is there any signs of life at all?
the fans turn on as do their leds and everything thats in the case is working fine, just no output. the hdd's are spinning, the gfx card built in fan is turning, i dont see any sign of a problem at all...
does your motherboard have more then 1 bios?
i dont think so, but i think it may be that somethings messed up, because it literally just booted up right to the bios when i pressed the power the first time before i re-assembled it.
could be the video card or motherboard
how could i check? also, the usb plugs do not work even if directly insterted into the motherboard.
bump. the problem still is persisting :sigh:
No POST beep?
no post beep. we installed everything we could to make it alert us of a problem, nothin. im calling over one of my dads-friends-sons if i cant fix it on friday, he has fixed like 15 computers
Weird.
Could try resetting the bios, I had a similar problem and taking the CMOS battery out of the motherboard and reinserting it fixed the issue.
Try reinstalling Windows. :v:
Also, you could try tightening or loosening the HSF assembly a bit.
This sounds suspiciously similar to a problem my brother had with his mobo, only it rebooted after about 2 seconds. We never knew how the damn thing got fixed.
I recently assembled a PC, and did not read the map of the mobo, and put the memory in slots a2 b2 and c2. This caused the computer to power on, but it did not complete its boot, all that happened were all the fans turning on, and the power LED turned on. I got no post beeps or anything. So, I recommend checking this out, its easy to miss.
Try reseating the CPU and heat sink. Also make sure you plugged in your CPU power cable, I almost missed that a few times.
