• HP pavillion p6320y issue.

Hey guys, I'm not usually one to ask for help, but I'm honestly stumped. So some relatives bought a hp pavillion p6320y desktop, and to their dismay, after a few months of casual use, out of nowhere, had a particularly odd problem. The computer boots up, and immediately freezes on the hp splash screen, you can't go into bios, you can't go any further. They hadn't really explain what happened when the computer first shut down, they either manually shut it down one day, to find it soon didn't boot properly, or it just crashed. I believe it to be the first situation. They tried to their best knowledge to fix it, regretfully buying a new (exact same model) motherboard, and hoping that would solve any issues. According to them, the exact problem happened with the new motherboard, same hardware in all. Nothing worked. They eventually gave up and gave me the computer, old motherboard, completely reassembled, exact condition as to when the error first occurred. I've gone through and completely troubleshot everything, checked everything, and it keeps winding down to the same error. Only one thing has currently worked so far: I got the computer ready to boot, and put a huge external desk fan to blow on it, hopefully keeping it cooled down, this gave me interesting results. It got me passed the splash screen, into an improper boot device prompt (not a big deal). unfortunately this method is very choppy and hardly works, but it's the first results I've actually gotten. So guys, what's wrong here?
Sounds to me like the BIOS is stalling while checking for boot sources. I (unsuccessfully) attempted to recover a failing external drive on an Acer Aspire 5570 laptop (only thing is the RAM is buffed to 2 GB instead of the stock 1) and its BIOS stalled out while searching for the drives. Try swapping out drives if you haven't already and seeing if it's still stalling. If it works with another drive but doesn't with the drive that was in it, then you've got the culprit.
Tried three different drives with the same results. Rather odd. [editline]13th July 2012[/editline] Okay guys looks like i've narrowed it down a little bit. Computer boots fine from usb, looks like my sata connections are messed up. Anyone where you can get cards with sata connections?
