Ryan Lochte and three other U.S. swimmers were robbed early Sunday morning by individuals posing as armed police officers, according to the U.S. Olympic Committee.
The four swimmers — including Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen — were in a taxi headed for the Olympic Village when the incident occurred, according to the USOC.
The USOC said the four athletes are safe and cooperating with authorities.
Lochte told NBC Sports in an interview, "We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over. They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground — they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didn't do anything wrong, so — I'm not getting down on the ground.
"And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, "Get down," and I put my hands up, I was like 'whatever.' He took our money, he took my wallet — he left my cell phone, he left my credentials."
Can't say I would have taken any chances with an armed robber in Brazil. But I'm glad he wasn't robbed and then shot.
Dunno how you can be an Olympic tier swimmer with massive steel balls weighing you down

He still thought they were police at that point
also when will the Rio ride end
wasn't there a russian swimmer that was robbed by some kids too
Maybe they really were police just practicing the time honored american tradition of civil forfeiture. Glad to see the Rio police force is quickly rising to western standards!
Can you imagine if they killed Ryan Lochte? Holy fuck, the reaction to that would be insane.

The reaction to this should've been insane.
Too bad getting robbed at gunpoint in Brazil is pretty standard stuff.

Any Olympian being killed would be a serious diplomatic incident. God help Brazil if anything like that happens

Wasnt an olympic official pretty much executed in the head after he took a wrong turn in a favela?
