So I did a quick search and only found one thread on this band from back in 2008. I recently found a Sweden power metal band by the name of Sabaton. I love metal, and listen to a lot of it and I've been looking around some some sort of epic new metal that I can play during games. That's when I found Sabaton. The majority (90%) are about wars, with about half of those being specifically about World War II. This includes everything from songs about specific divisions, specific battles, the Holocaust, or even specific people. Here's a few examples: Screaming Eagles- The "Screaming Eagles" were the 101st Airborne and the song also talks about the battle of Bastogne. Primo Victoria- This song tells the story of the Invasion of Normandy. Ghost Division- The "Ghost Division" was, during World War II, the 7th Panzer Division and was named as such due to their skill and speed during the battle of France. Midway- Obviously about the naval battle "Battle of Miday" during World War II. 40:1- This song tells the tale of the Battle of Wizna where 42,000 German soldiers were held off for three days by 720 Polish soldiers. Price of a Mile- This song is about the battle of Passchendaele and about the sacrifices and slaughters of soldiers during World War I. All in all I think this band is fantastic, I actually ended up traveling a little bit further south from where I live to another city and found several of their CDs in a store, and purchased them all. I then sent them an e-mail on a whim to ask of the possibility of a tour in the United States and Canada. Par, the bassist, replied to me with this message:
Hi Hank. You are amongst a few people in US who have bought the CD´s. If more people did like you there would be bigger chance that we can come on tour. Cheers /Pär
I'm a little disappointed that they don't have any planned, but it does make sense. You can't travel across a continent to do a concert if you only know of a few people in each city who would for sure come. Either way, if you enjoy Sabaton there are tons of videos on youtube and I'm you might even be able to find a CD in a nearby store if you really want one. It took a bit of searching for me to find them, which was kind of sad. TL;DR: Sabaton is a power metal band that mostly sings about wars and World War II. Check out the videos above.
Got all their albums, seen them live. Excellent band.
I had the opportunity to go and see them live in Glasgow but my parents wouldn't let me go. Needless to say I was pissed.
Was my fav power metal band when I still listened to power metal. Favourite song was easily Cliffs of Gallipoli, the piano gliss intro followed by the fat guitar chug is awesome.

Was damn annoyed at that, awesome band.
I went to the Glasgow show with Alestorm :D
I like some of their songs, and that's only because of the lyrics. I usually don't even care about lyrics when listening to bands. My problem with Sabaton is that musically they are terribly un-interesting for me.
They're not particularly technical (in fact they're anything but :v:)but the instrumentals compliment each other very very well I think and it sounds really good And Joakim has a fucking fantastic voice.

I wish they would come tour in the U.S.! Video I made for "Aces in Exile."

As well, mikey is absolutely right - they're not very technical, but the instruments do compliment each other nicely.
I wish they would come tour in the U.S.!
