The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is ready for a zombie apocalypse. Gun owners got prepared for a zombie apocalypse. Now, the military and law enforcement are getting ready. And next month, they'll begin training. Security firm HALO Corp. announced yesterday that about 1,000 military personnel, police officials, medical experts and federal workers will learn the ins and outs of a zombie apocalypse, as part of an annual counter-terrorism summit , according to the Military Times. Sure, the lesson is tongue-in-cheek -- and only a small part of the summit's more serious course load -- but a zombie-like virus outbreak is a good training scenario. Visitors will learn to deal with a worldwide pandemic, where people become crazy, violent and fearful. Zombies will roam the summit grounds in San Diego, Calif. harassing troops and first-aid teams that will be participating. Further details are unclear, but the Military Times made sure to note that zombies are not real. The training comes at a time when the term "zombie apocalypse" is so viral that several branches of government have released statements on the matter. Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security reported that "the zombies are coming" as part of a hilarious bid to get citizens to prepare for a real disaster. The CDC has released similar statements using zombies as a playful guise to get the public prepared for actual disasters. To assure that no one's confused by these announcements, CDC told The Huffington Post that zombies are not real.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/17/zombie-apocalypse-training-halo-corp_n_1889724.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news&icid=maing-grid7|netscape|dl1|sec3_lnk1&pLid=206488
Better safe than sorry. I think.
Further details are unclear, but the Military Times made sure to note that zombies are not real.
well that sounds suspiciously specific
OH SNAP ZAMBIEZZZZ
And then they go laughing all the way to the bank
With all these cannibalistic attacks going on recently, you can never be TOO prepared!
Well why not :v:

Where's that Bogleech comic where the zombies were different from what the fanatics anticipated?
Fuck that I'm ready for kicking ass!
I'll just buy lots of canned food, barricade the door and chill for a few weeks. I live on the 4th floor, so shouldn't be too dangerous... right?

The Blob
destroy all the stairs
Good idea. We do have an elevator after all.
I NEED A GUN. Don't have one. Shit. I call the zombies reavers, except reavers don't rape you.
Good idea. We do have an elevator after all.
i doubt you'll have electricity during the rapture
training for shooting large crowds of angry people because you can't say you're shooting real people, so you shoot 'zombies'
Everybody is laughing at them now... you just wait people... you just wait..
Even if this is a bit silly its still pretty awesome. I wanna see photos and images of it and how it plays out!
i doubt you'll have electricity during the rapture
Elevator shaft has a ladder.
There are plenty of well written pieces on why a zombie apocalypse would only happen through a series of incredibly strange stupidity-based coincidences. Still, better safe than sorry.
Come on, this is being taken too far. Zombie apocalypse is just a fantasy, nothing like could happen in reality.
Elevator shaft has a ladder.
then you'll have to destroy the ladder as well
Come on, this is being taken too far. Zombie apocalypse is just a fantasy, nothing like could happen in reality.
Unlikely? Yes Completely impossible? No way to be sure
It's a good idea. The zombie term is kinda generic but terrorists could release some kind of chemical which makes people go crazy or some kind of infectious disease which spreads and kills over time. Better to prepare for the worst than take everything lightly.
We'd better do our training to be sure. Such as playing Left For Dead, Killing Floor, Resident Evil... :v:
Do you know what I reckon the best piece of equipment to have during a zombie apocalypse is? A ladder. You could climb up onto roofs and stuff, retract the ladder, and no zombies would be able to reach you. You could be like spiderman with that shit
If people go crazy there is little to do because it would probably not make people go zombie dumb.
Crazy people generally don't take the time to plan things out and make rational decisions Zombies aren't always portrayed as dumb anyway
I've actually heard something about this. Basically, they take some fun fictional thing (zombie apocalypse in this case) and train people how to prepare for it. Why? Because if you are prepared for a zombie apocalypse, you are prepared for any other natural disaster. Good example; hurricanes. If someone is prepared for a zombie apocalypse, they are going to have food, medical supplies, and shelter. If a hurricane hits, they'll still have those things, and they can even help people out. This is actually a good idea. [editline]17th September 2012[/editline]
We'd better do our training to be sure.
