Sam Simon, the co-creator of "The Simpsons" has died ... TMZ has learned. Simon passed away Sunday at his L.A. home, following a long, difficult battle with colon cancer. Simon was diagnosed in 2012 and was very public that his disease was terminal. We're told Simon was surrounded by his family when he died, and his dog. The dog was very special in Sam's life ... he was a big animal rights advocate. The Sam Simon Foundation tells us, " For those of us who knew him, his voice will forever echo in our minds; his sense of humor will continue to make us laugh; and his compassion and generosity will continue to impact our lives." Adding, "Sam, you will be missed by many, but there is a particular sadness among our clinic staff. We have been together for so long, and your absence will forever leave a void in our lives."
TMZ
Fuck, that sucks, he made a bunch of great stuff :(
I'm guessing the show will pay its respects somehow? I hope
I'm guessing the show will pay its respects somehow? I hope
I seriously hope they don't. If this happened 10 years ago, sure, but there probably isn't anyone who worked with Sam Simon working on the show now except for the voice actors.
Rest in peace Sam

That's like saying a sports team shouldn't pay respects when a famous team member dies. No one on the team probably played with them, but they still deserve recognition for what they did for the team and sport as a whole. Sam Simon was one of the reasons The Simpsons became such a national phenomena, the people that are currently working on the show should have the right to honor him and what he did as a whole.
This is super sad. I'm currently rewatching The Golden Age seasons for the first time since I was a tiny child, and its one of the greatest shows of all time. I'm so happy he helped give this to the world.
