Parents dump Japanese boy in forest alone because he was naughty. Founded by military after search
A Japanese boy who was lost for six days in dense forests after his parents left him behind has been discharged from hospital.Takayuki Tanooka, 44, and his wife briefly left Yamato Tanooka by the side of the road on the northern island of Hokkaido on 28 May as punishment.
When they came back he was gone. A huge search was launched and the boy was found at a military base on Friday.
Mr Tanooka said in an interview on Monday that Yamato forgave him.
The case sparked a debate in Japan about parenting.
Mr Tanooka told broadcaster TBS in an interview: "I said to him, 'Dad made you go though such a hard time. I am sorry'."
"And then, my son said, 'You are a good dad. I forgive you'."
what shitty parenting
How the fuck did the boy found it in himself to forgive him, that's fucking cruel by the parents to do that
EDIT:
It seems that the parents at least did go back to pick him up,still a dick move nontheless

I feel like he said he forgave him because if they're willing to toss their kid in the woods for a few hours as punishment (they probably didn't think he'd wander off), think about what other shit they might do to him.

Parental bond, they are his parents and he is very young, it is simple as that. I have had parents as equally shit as this kid right here and I still miss them sometimes. It might be hard to understand, but this is what children do.

Dude the kids like 8, he's too young to be dark and edgy, wait until he gets older, I bet he will have some choice words for his parents then.
This reminds me of some of the crap my dad always threatened like making us "walk home" I never really responded to threats especially meaningless ones like that, but it does make me wonder where people get these stupid ideas of punishment from. My dad's family never really fought each other, certainly not to the degree my mom's family did, she never bothered with stupid crap like threatening spanking or belts or walking, her brothers were complete fuckups in their days and they got into it quite heavily with my grandfather
I thought this story was already a week old and already covered?

denying forgiveness to abusive parents is 'dark and edgy' now?

It is, but now he was discharged from the hospital.
was this the boy who sneaked into a military base to get water or something?
So we talking about this again now? New thread?
First time I'm hearing about it.
Sounds like the start of a animé
do you all live under a rock? this happened a week ago and the boy said 2 days ago that he forgave his parents.
The police are not pressing charges against the parents what the hell

Japanese values. Loyalty is a pretty big one, even in this day and age AFAIK.

Well perhaps I was wondering why the parents would leave him at a forest before throwing him out of their lives

well, i'm not questioning the punishment because that's still extreme even for Japan but i was more explaining why the child would forgive them for doing it.
Founded? Seriously?
Wasn't there another article that said they dropped him off and 5 minutes later they came back for him but he wandered off and they couldn't find him?

Yeah I remember hearing about this like a week ago, as far as I can remember they just left him there as a bit of a 'trick' e.g "if you're going to be like that, maybe we should just leave you here". They left it a little too late so when they came back the boy had wandered off and it took six days to find him.
It's not really abuse considering they didn't mean to actually leave him there, it's just a bluff they made to discipline their kid that got out of hand

from what i understand the kid tried to walk after where the car went but came to a fork in the road and went down the wrong path
