More like life is gey and im a hipster time traveling lesbian who gets 10/10 from kotaku but doesnt tell my teacher or police someones gonna murder someone in the bathroom regardless of me having foresight beforehand.
Did I mention polygayon gave me a 10/10 and that my story is insanely flawed?
Anyone played it? Is life actually strange or no?

have you seen anything about the game but the trailer?
like shit i'm not interested in the game but this post is just completely judgmental BS
i'm gonna chance it and find out how it goes, just getting the first episode for now
Seriously the trailer was so obnoxious it completely turned me off.
I get what they are going for but its so pretentious and in your face.
From the articles it seems interesting but i think the trailer has really put me off it.

Actual representation of someone getting mad at a video game for simply existing

Yeah, 20 minutes of the 2 hour game.
Its shit, the protag is fucking stupid, the writing is abysmal after about 5 minutes in of the start. When I say the protag is stupid, shes REALLY fucking stupid and the flawed writing I saw doesnt help. Characters are nothing but bland stock teenagers you would see in Degrassi. Its like a fucking badly written after school special.
Maybe my initial post was underhanded, but fuck it looked horrible. If that start was already that bad then I have no real hopes for the rest of it.
Not gonna praise a game that cant even impress in the slightest in the first 20 minutes the devs decided to show. But I can already tell that its most likely gonna be gobbled up, once again continuing the cycle of shitty games getting praise because of peoples feelings and opinions, instead of basing it off of the actual quality of the game.
I watched a stream of a video game so that means I'm an authority on it!
[editline]30th January 2015[/editline]
Same shit with you over and over again.
I think you can get a rough idea of how good a game is by looking at a stream. Sure you don't get the same feel as when playing it but you can still spot most flaws.
I played this now for about 30 minutes, most boring crap I've played in my life.
I wonder who is their target audience with this game.

So is watching a video put out by the devs thats 20 minutes long and the start of the game NOT good enough to decide if whether or not the product is shit?
Fucking really? It looks like shit and it came straight from the devs.
Plus not like I was wrong about where my title came from, Thi4f was fucking garbage.

I played 1 hour and yeah, it's bad. Story is poorly written and characters I couldn't give a fuck about. It's like a telltale game except the writer they hired is probably deviantart fanfiction writer. The idea is cool but the execution is below average imo. Dialogue is just cringy at many parts and feels very forced, not fitting to how the character feels vs how they talk.
It does feel very hipstery in design so I guess that might be their target.

try arguing about any movie ever and saying "yeah i watched 20 minutes of it, it's shit" and see how that goes
try arguing about any movie ever and saying "yeah i watched 20 minutes of it, it's shit" and see how that goes
Try arguing that a movie and a video game are the same thing, and tell me how that goes next time you try and be sassy.
Face it, if your game cant impress in any shape or form in its first 20 minutes that include gameplay, then the rest is most likely shit, especially considering its a short as fuck episode and the fact the characters and writing was pure shit in during that time, the main focus of said game.

alright, first you're getting WAY too worked up over a video game that doesn't even have anything to do with you if you don't like it then add it to the ignore list on steam / don't buy it??
second that bolded part seems like a completely overblown statement and almost comes off as paranoia. how can you tell that any of that is going to happen?
first 20 minutes of half life 2 is just walking around what the fuck?!?
To be fair, Half-Life 2 uses it exceptionally well to build up the world you're in. You get to see Breen's broadcasts, see the citadel, listen to the Civis talking about what has happened in their lives, experience a tiny glimpse of life under the combine overwatch. Like, everything up to Kleiner's lab is used to great effect for world building. Can't say how this game uses it, but it is entirely possible the first 20 minutes of a game to be indicative of the rest of it in some form.
I watched it on twitch like a tv show while doing other stuff, I still like the idea but woooooow the dialogue is garbage
The only thing that annoys me is how this will most likely be the hot topic of discussion for the next several months with people saying shit about it from both extremes.
Yeah, 20 minutes of the 2 hour game.

So what, it's one episode out of 5. Telltale's "Walking Dead" Episodes aren't much longer.

That is not true, they gave it an 8 out of 10 as much as you'd wish that it happened that is was a 10/10.

I will wait for more episodes and more reactions by the press and gamers. Episode one is getting so far pretty good scores around 7.5 and 8 and not only that, most reviewers have legit complains about the writing, especially the dialogues.
If the other episodes can keep the quality up or even improve, then I will surely pick it up and I'll have a fun and unbiased playtrough.
It's not worth getting too invested and angry about this. Your voice, HoodedSniper is not in the reach of the target audience or for the devs and to be honest even here, nobody cares.
People will buy it anyways and people will enjoy it or hate it anyways and you can't change anything about this other than making yourself look immature.
Just because the marketing of the first trailer hit any of your "triggers" and other people you hang out with think it's bad because of recent events and developments doesn't mean that it's actually a bad game.
totes the dialog is like totes hella unnatural it comes close to sounding like real teenagers but then hella lame radicals the sheeple, sad face theres a point where a character actually says sad face
Over here on the west coast I used to volunteer at an afterschool program and it's surprisingly close to how actual time-traveling lesbians chit-chat in the dayrooms..

i'm not saying they're the same thing but you're acting like they can't be compared? this game especially seems like it's going for a cinematic experience of sorts and focusing on the story, so yeah i'd say it's a fair comparison
i haven't played it, i've got no clue if it's good or not, but you have no idea what goes on in like 80% of the game. you don't know if it builds up its story well, if it adds more depth to its characters along the way, hell you don't really know that much at all, imo you just sound like you WANT to hate this game regardless of whether you can find a good reason for it or not
yeah, some games can show you what they are in 20 minutes or even less, but unless you hate the type of game it is (twd style adventure game) then 20 minutes of this type of game doesn't really tell you much
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with this. I've watched the first 30 minutes of this game in a Let's Play and it doesn't hold a candle to TWD.
In the first 30 minutes of TWD we discover that Lee may or may not be a murderer (establishing his ability to kill while also giving him a secret that can be used to cast suspicion on him), that Clementine's parents left her at home while they went to Savannah (giving both motivation for the journey and a destination), that Kenny plans to take a boat out to sea (showing that he is trying to protect his family but also that he doesn't think his plans through), and that Clementine herself is a very pro-active character when she saves Lee (setting up the later sub-plot of teaching Clem to survive and later to play as her). It did this with very little exposition, mostly through character actions and interactions. And all of this before they even get to the drug store and most of the cast are introduced.
In the same time this game throws a lot of potentially meaningless information at us. We know that the main character moved away and moved back, that she likes photography, that she's a stupid "I left my childhood behind" type of young adult, and that she doesn't pay attention in class. Out side of her we know Kate is in trouble for some reason and that no one but the main character likes her, and that everyone else in the game is from a mid-90s high school cartoon.
While you could say that the games total focus on the main character is to show her introverted nature, which it does do to some degree, it also kind of portrays her as generic middle-class American white girl, and does so with unnecessarily long exposition. We aren't shown anything about the girl's personality until the scene where she takes a picture of a butterfly, pretty much everything about her is told to use explicitly by her. Even the things she owns are told to use, it's not enough for her to own a polaroid camera, the game has to tell us why she has it.
That said it is entirely possible that the game picks up later on, and it isn't a bad game by any means. Certainly better than Gone Home or Beyond Two Souls. I also did like [sp]the butterfly effect thing they had going on, she sees a tornado at the start and 'later' after she's travelled back in time she sees the butterfly, a nice and fairly subtle detail.[/sp] Though the "TWN PKS" license plate is pretty dumb.

You forget that TWD had nothing else to set up. That the world is filled with zombies doesn't take long to explain, and certainly not when your story is already based on other popular works in other media. This game had to introduce the player to a recurring landscape, teach the player of the time rewinding mechanic and introduce characters that don't develop in interesting directions until later ([sp]the security guard comes to mind[/sp]). You also seem to take for granted that the two games are as focused on action. TWD arguably has a faster tempo than this, mostly because we hear the character's thoughts here which demands longer breaks.
Really whether this game is any good or not is something we have to figure out when the new episodes come out. Seeing as it primarily engages through player choice and the story in general, we need to see whether there are important consequences or not, and if the later story explains things well enough without drifting off. So far all we can say is that it's obviously not suited to everyone.

Taking what people say in real life often ends up in bad dialogue.
games like these will always get a lot of hate.

Almost definitely, but hardly unnatural when it is natural.
Almost definitely, but hardly unnatural when it is natural.
I think our definitions of natural do not match because that dialogue sounds forced as fuck
