• Intermittent Input Lag In Most Games

I've been having this issue for a while now. It's entirely new to this computer, as my old one had only very very rare input lag that I generally managed to diagnose myself. This happens mostly in newer games that like to use up a lot of resources. When playing games, whenever I enter a new scene - like loading into a server in TF2, changing maps, dropping down to a planet in Starbound, etc. - I usually get several seconds of input lag. It also sometimes happens during normal play, but these occurrences are much less common. This can last anywhere from 5-10 seconds, to upwards of a full minute. Pausing the game to let it pass works, which makes it tolerable in games like Orcs Must Die! where this is actually possible. It's quite a bit more irritating in games like Natural Selection 2, where if it occurs during a fight I'm basically fucked. The input lag only affects button pushes, - including keyboard and mouse - but not mouse movements. I'm not sure if this is normal. Frequently during this time I'm usually still pushing buttons, both to test if it's gone and to react to what's going on in the game. While pushing the buttons, the computer beeps at me repeatedly. I mean I understand enough to know it's basically telling me to stop so it can catch up, but at the same time I usually can't if I want to not die in my game. I bought a new keyboard for this computer specifically, because my old one only had the non-USB keyboard plug. My mouse was using a converter so it's fine, but it only accepted USB peripherals. I don't know why. It also doesn't like my headset's mic, and lowers the volume on it considerably even when maxed - to the point where I nobody can hear me below +30db when using it. It worked perfectly fine on my old XP, but apparently either this computer or Win7 doesn't like it.
The input lag sounds odd, possibly a program in the background causing it. Try to remove as much stuff you don't need from the computer as possible. And for the dedicated mouse and keyboard jacks the computer could possibly be missing drivers
I thought that might be possible, but even with everything except Steam running it still happens. I mean it's possible it's a RAM issue since I only have 2GB, but It happens even on games that my old XP could run fine, and it also only had 2 GB.
