No Platinum, no buy.
Considering how well Dawn of War 3 went, I don't think there's any sane reason as to why any future 40K game would not suck moving on from DoW3. At this point, we're better off asking for Stormcast Eternals in THWH2 and Vermintide 2 so as to make Warhammer fantasy games the closest thing to a good 40K game.

What makes you think Platinum would make a good 40k game? Are they the new "Savior of gaming" or something?

What an absolutely strange post.

PlatinumGames has built up a really loveable reputation since the original console release of Bayonetta. Said reputation alone will turn a lot of heads if they were to make a game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. More importantly, the heads that would be turned include other game developers handling the license.
lmao what? why do you think Relic are the only company making Warhammer games?
I don't? It's just that at the time of DoW3's release and subsequent disappointment, they were like the last light of hope while every other developer handling the IP was making terrible games for it. I still say that the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium looks like sunshines and rainbows compared to the future of 40K video games.
Oh right, you're the Bayonetta dude. Didn't you leave the Warhammer thread after we told you that a japanese company probably wouldn't be able to pull of a 40K game lol.
You have a very strange obsession with Platinum Games.

He comes into every 40k thread saying that dumb shit.
Welp... I guess we'll just have to settle for the next best thing: ask for Stormcast Eternals in WHFB video games.

As i've said before, who else can save the license?

I'd say Relic is fine, their only real fuckup for 40k was DoW3. I really enjoyed DoW1 and 2 + Space Marine. I'd give them the benefit of doubt for their next game.
Besides, didn't they make DoW 3 better with patches? I haven't really followed the development.
Also I'm a Blood Ravens fan (pls no bully) and I think Relic handled 40k pretty well (sans DoW3 I guess, I haven't played it though so i have no idea). They have flaws in their writing of course, but they're enjoyable.
Looks interesting but after DoW3 fiasco preordering a WH40k game is a big no-no for me.
Gonna wait for honest reviews first.

As much as I love Platinum they don't need to make every fucking game Jesus Christ
Platinum should make the next civ game, really.
Platinum should make the next civ game, really.
They should make the next XCOM.
Struggling to think of how Plat could even approach a 40k game. Maybe an Eversor assassin but that's so far removed from the 'surface' lore as to be unmarketable.
Space Marine 2 never ever.

They could make a melee action game focused on the Sisters of Battle.
Warhammer: Inquistor - Martyr is fairly fun for an Early Access game. Apparently Battlefleet Gothic is fun and Deathwing is getting a big update or it already did this month which enhanced it greatly.
but hey lets just throw platinum into every game ever
This seems really nice, a shame that there are only a few factions right now though. I would like to see chaos.

or as a howling banshee
Oh, cool, this guy is here. I can now shill my own idea of giving 40k licence to Koei and make Warhammer Warriors. 40k is melee-oriented enough for it to work, squad sarges for lieutenants, Commissars/Chaplains/Champions/Nobs for Majors. Plenty of hero choices, too: Warbosses, Lord Commissars, Inquisitors, Space Marine Captains, etc. Have them fight over a dynamic map outside of story campaign.
Fuck it, I'd play a game that let's me murder ton of Space Marines with repeated presses of X.

Why have you got this idea of "Unless this one specific developer makes a game in this very specific genre, the franchise is ruined!"? The W40K/WHF franchise has potential for all sorts of genres, settings and types of game, from what i've seen Platinum wouldn't be able to do Strategy, FPS, RPG etc games at all. Wanting to shove one specific type of game onto the setting when it's something that they purposefully let all sorts of genres and developers make games in (which is far better than what something like Star Wars has done) is overall a good thing, even if it results in the occasional average game. There have been plenty of pretty good video games for WHF/40K since THQ disappeared. Vermintide 1/2, Total War Warhammer 1/2, Deathwing (outside of the issues, it did the atmosphere and such very well), Inquisitor Martyr, Battlefleet: Gothic etc. Even this one here looks like it might be alright if you enjoy 4X games. They aren't all terrible.
It's like you're saying "Unless a new W40K game meets my very specific requirements then they shouldn't make any at all!", but saying that is all that matters would be ruining the franchise, not all these games you don't like. It's absurd to think that they should just drop the idea of making games that appeal to multiple different people and focus on one very specific niche thing.

Platinum don't need to be doing spin-off games forever. Especially if it's part of a franchise that wouldn't fit the character-action genre all that much.
See previous statement about the next best thing to a good 40K game: Ground Marines in Vermintide and/or TWWH2
See previous statement about the next best thing to a good 40K game: Ground Marines in Vermintide and/or TWWH2
How is ruining the setting by shoving in something that doesn't belong the next best thing to having a "good" W40K game? (there are already several good W40K games)
flash, you're entitled to think Platinum Games would make the WH40k - the one every other game from now and until the extinction of the human race will aspire to recreate. But I disagree. I do not think Platinum Games would be able to make a good WH40k game, largely because the games they've made in the past are so different to what a 40k games requires. 40k games are gritty, bloody, and dark, whereas the games Platinum tend to make are flashy, fast-paced, and takes place in not particularly dark universes; at least not in comparison to 40k.
[editline]26th November 2017[/editline]
A Sisters of Battle game that played even fractionally like Bayonetta would not be a 40k game, because it would be so over-the-top (even for a 40k game) that it would suck out what makes 40k, well, 40k.
They could make a melee action game focused on the Sisters of Battle.
This already tells me you don't know enough about the 40K universe to make these demands.
If you had said like any Eldar melee unit that would have made more sense, but the Sisters of Battle are not flashy ninjas or anything.
Hold the fucking phone. Incoming Platinum Games Weaboo Sisters of Battle 40k sales pitch?
Wow, just wow. You've gotta fill me in on how this would all work. I'm really intrigued that you're so dedicated to bringing it up everywhere 40k related.
You must have the whole scenario figured out by now combined with a bunch of juicy gameplay ideas.
Let's see how deep the well goes. :ohno:

Back on topic I have to say I never expected a 40k 4x but it actually makes a lot of sense.
