Alright, I'd love to give you my specs, but I honestly can't give you much since the computer in question is kinda...broken?
[B]Here's what I DO know:[/B]
It runs 64 bit Windows Vista (Not sure which type specifically)
It runs a duel core Intel Pentium Processor.
It has 4 Gb of RAM.
[B]The Problem:[/B]
I basically put my computer into sleep mode last night. Today I pressed the keyboard to wake it up, which I could hear from the computer that it did wake up...but the screen or any other peripheral didn't respond (the screen remained blank, the keyboard didn't light up, etc). I waited a while, and nothing changed. I started disconnecting the peripherals and reconnecting them to see if that would help (including the iPod which was charging -- it has been known to cause the start-up to pause until disconnected), but nothing changed still.
Finally, I just held down the power button and forced it to shut down. After a minute I started it back up...and I hear two short beeps?! The peripherals continued to NOT work (including the screen), so I quickly looked up the beep codes on computerhope.com. I don't know which code corresponding to my computer (plus it appears the website's links are all directed to the same page).
[B]The Short and Sweet Version (for the ADD of us on facepunch):[/B]
Screen is blank and I'm hearing two short beeps. Will not start up.
I'm not sure what to do...please help!

Wait. I just tried starting it back up again (for like the tenth time). Here's what's odd: at first it seemed like it was going to turn on, but then it just dies...and moments later turns on! It did a Windows Resume screen...goes blank...and minutes later everything is back up like normal (everything I had open before I had put in in sleep mode is up again)...and then my screen goes blank AGAIN!
I'm going to press the power button once. My theory is that it's all loaded up like normal, and if I press the power button now, it should shut down normally. Hopefully everything will be working fine when I turn it back on.
Try resetting your ram. beeps mean different things for different BIOS', but whenever this problem (and I mean EXACTLY this problem) happened at my high school, I'd tell the teacher to let me reset the ram.
Of course, they were all "No, you're not the tech guy, blah blah blah".
Then, when the tech guy came in, he reset the ram.
Basically, unplug the computer from the wall, open up the case, and then take out the ram and put it back in, making sure that it's completely and securely in.
Ok, it's not turning off...Dammit, Vista! Alright, I'm going to force it to turn off.

Alrighty. I'll give it a try.

AFJHFDL There's a TON of dust in it! Like, WAY more than I was expecting: there's dust bunnies with a radius of at least an inch! First I'll clean it, than I'll reset the memory. And relax: I know how to clean it without totally frying it.
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Alright, all done. It appears to be starting up normally. It asked if I wanted to start-up in safe mode (and other modes), but I said "Start Normally". It's now asking for my password...let's see if it's working.
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Alright! It's wor...FUCK! [B]I just got a blue screen![/B]
...It restarted. What do I do?
Restart again and spam f8 and use the don't restart on crash (may not be worded that way). If it blue screens again wright down the code and provide it for us.
Erm...well, I kinda already started it in safe mode, but I'll go ahead and restart it.
Alright, it's now set up to NOT restart on a crash.
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Hmm...it's not crashing. If it does, I'll let you know right away. Thanks :D
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Well, it appears stable. I think that some error in the memory or the virtual memory was cleared when I started in safe mode...possibly. Still, if anything does come up I'll let you know.
FUCK! It crashed again.
Here's what it says:
[code]
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation
or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configeration,
and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check
for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

I'm going to do what it says and run CHKDSK /F. Hmm, I feel like I've done this before with this very same computer...

I ran in safe mode and I got this message:

Oh shit! Avast found a corrupted file. It's an Assassin's Creed 2 file! How strange...I just installed it three days ago...how could it be corrupted already?!
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
*sigh* and now a map in Garry's Mod is also corrupted...
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
2 maps?!
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
And a LOT of tf2 maps are corrupted, too...
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Sonovabitch! Defender.exe was found...that fucking program was a nightmare to remove. I had to do it myself because it took full control of my computer...and now it's back again. It must have hid a copy of itself in another folder. Dammit!
Avast has already found 11 viruses. That may be what's causing me issues.
Don't try to remove this virus just reinstall windows. From what I can tell you've tried to remove it before and failed.
Remove all storage devices reformat installing avast before you connect any storage device.
I'm telling you to keep your storage devices disconnected because they can be infected.
