I will be purchasing a new laptop and am still debating on one with a good quality graphics card. Does anyone know if the NVIDIA GeForce GT220M is any good for gaming performance? I mean will it handle games such as GTA IV, Farcry 2, CS:S, Garry’s Mod and TF2 at a fairly decent level? NVIDIA® GeForce® GT220M DirectX®10 graphics with 512 MB GDDR3 graphics memory and digital HDMI audio/video output. Thanks
What's the other specs of the laptop

shit nice price
It might struggle a bit in GTA4 because it's not a quad, but it's a really good laptop for the price.
GT220M, sounds like one of the lower end of the series, probably equal to a 7600GT in performance [editline]01:41PM[/editline] with being a mobile card slapped right on top of it, takes away some more performance [editline]01:41PM[/editline] the rest, however, is nice

GT220M is likely a rebrand 9600M GT or a 9800M GS Mobile Card.
Checked in another forum, it is a rebranded 9650GT

Great price, you'll want to need a laptop cooling pad if you're going to be gaming. Helps to keep temperatures down.
Lemme guess, Its probably an acer if its that cheap with those specs, you may want to buy a laptop cooler, as acers get pretty hot. Damn, :ninja:'d
It won't run GTA IV regardless of GPU. GTA IV is more CPU dependant due to heavy AI. Oh and how fast is the HDD? Don't get it if it's an 5400 RPM.

Link please, thats a damn cheap laptop for the specs

I know its an old thread people but believe he has exactly the same laptop as me, same specs, everything, this laptop is the Medion Akoya P6620, I got mine for an amazing price of £400, from ALDI!
I was wondering why everyone was jizzing over the price for those specs...
Well, it was 2 years ago.
I suggest checking whenever you're buying a laptop if the GPU is listed at notebookcheck.net, there's most mobile GPUs listed even for some older ones. [url=http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-220M.20054.0.html]just for shiz and giggles here's GT 220M[/url] Some of the benchmark result are a bit vague for older cards, but there's a few games benchmarked at the bottom which help a good bit. I find the site sort of cool :3: Whoa two years old thread

I wasnt even thinking about bumping it lol! Was just searching for overclocking my CPU, i will point out a floor with this laptop though... fantastic graphics card for its overall spec and range but the proccessor is letting me down on GTA IV, Mafia 2, and Flight Simulator X, however track mania nations runs great becuase it mostly uses the GPU!
I have a F50 SF from Asus. It runs well, but it has its problems. But that doesn't matter now since its outdated. Also, I hope you don't plan on overclocking your laptops CPU...
For reference, I have Core 2 T9800 @ 2.93 GTX 260M 1GB 4GB RAM I got that in July '09. It runs TF2 flawlessly and newer games great at medium settings. If that's the best deal for your budget, go for it, but it's not going to last.
