Well as you know it has been snowing... A LOT in Great Britain and I've decided I want to "attempt" an Igloo. I already know what to do and I just wanted to know if ANYBODY has first hand experience of making them? Also, things like How much does a 12" long 6" high 4" or 5" wide Piece of wood cost? are there any alternatives to making a mould? (Not making one by hand) I.e. boxes from storage. I've also used this page for help and I am currently making "Flat land" http://www.wikihow.com/Build-an-Igloo
Matches. On a serious note make sure you reinforce it well.
Great Britain, eh ?
And for the mold, try a dome shaped object.
You cut out a square of ice in the ground then stack them up. This is the proper way to do it. If you're going to do it in place without that kind of shit, might as well make it out of giant ice cubes.
That's right, build an igloo. The vikings might awaken from the dead and pilage.
I'm afraid that you couldn't make one in the UK. The snow's too powdery (even if you manage to find enough) and there isn't a thick enough layer of it to 'dig in' your igloo
buy one of those dog houses and put snow over it, and then remove the dog house
if you're a brit why are you using inches

Buy a shed from homebase instead. [editline]08:26PM[/editline]
because all the real pros interchange between the metric and imperial system.
Old habits die hard.

I've been digging over a pile of (non literally) shit and its taken forever to actually get a decent size.
get a bucket and a water source and make sure you put water on every piece, because from the looks of it, it's powder snow use wood reinforcements until you can put in a key stone make sure it's really strong, cause if it's not and it collapses while your inside, you're pretty much screwed

It requires in depth planning

You have to pack the snow into blocks with a mould type thing so they end up like bricks, then build it from them.
Make lots of the mould things like the site said, fill them with water and leave them overnight. If it's cold enough to snow then the ice bricks should last the day so you can make more bricks the next night. Then you have an ice house! Also if it snows the next day then your snow covered ice house will look like a proper igloo
I actually half did this before with my dad, we only got have the half the wall done but it stayed out, we just used an old ice cream tub to make the blocks.
Get a big pile of snow and dig a room and then add "entrance", I did this when I were like 8. You can also use boxes to make bricks and build further and further to the center, then put snow in the holes and add entrance. I did this recently and it worked fine.
you should use some sort of small box to make the moulds, it's a lot easer. find someting made of plastic or used for plants etc.

Go to Alaska. They're pros up there.
Make an igloo out of Jello instead.

The snow has to be very dense before you cut it straight out of the snow on the ground (unless you use the urban method, meaning a mold). With the block cut , build in a circular manner, starting with the base. With some skill, it will support itself as a dome should and you won't need reinforcement.
