Fuck off you pretentious dick.
Expectations weren't the only thing that was "very high" when they were reviewing the game.
insult him all you want but he's completely right what people expected in terms of quality and scope from an indie game even just a few years ago is vastly different to now
insult him all you want but he's completely right what people expected in terms of quality and scope from an indie game even just a few years ago is vastly different to now
Well no shit, but when you say shit like that :
“Those of us who have fans who are excited about our next game have the power to funnel some of that attention and can be part of the solution to make sure that the most exciting new games are getting the attention they deserve.”
You deserve to be called a pretentious fuck.
im just not gonna read the article and post my physical manifestation of my bias against gone home and how it raped and killed my family
You are worse than the people that complain about it. Hell, no one was even talking about gone home, people are just saying Gaynor is a pretentious twat.
Well no shit, but when you say shit like that : You deserve to be called a pretentious fuck.
Why is it bad/pretentious to help other developers?
Why is it bad/pretentious to help other developers?
Well saying this comes off as pretentious “Those of us who have fans who are excited about our next game have the power to funnel some of that attention and can be part of the solution to make sure that the most exciting new games are getting the attention they deserve.” Hes really playing up himself with that, more than he is, which is pretentious.
Why is it bad/pretentious to help other developers?
Speaking of your fans as predictable drones and talking like you actually have an impact on the video game industry are two ways to sound douchey. Referring to yourself as an ~indie dev~ and taking advantage of that to make yourself a reputation is also retarded. You don't hear gabe newell go "yeah we have a lot of fans who are excited about our games so we're going to use that to promote lesser known games from peasant developers who can't back themselves up". Hell, Valve has been technically an independent company for quite a long time now and they don't act like pretentious twats pretending they got here from nothing and that being independent is the core of their job.

Why is informing fans of other games like other developers do a bad thing? And how is he hyping himself up, and bragging about being an indie dev, or whatever you were saying?
Am I the only one getting tired of this? Every goddamn article is starting to look like this every time he's mentioned Fullbright's Steve Gaynor creator of "Gone Home" warns developers that expectations are very high for new indie titles, you might know of Fullbright's Steve Gaynor creator of "Gone Home" from being the creator of Gone Home: plight of the 90's. Fullbright's Steve Gaynor creator of "Gone Home" won several game of the year awards thanks to his AWARD WINNING "game" Gone Home: a tale of two lesbians. Fullbright's Steve Gaynor creator of "Gone Home" has significant pull in the video game industry thanks to his CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED smash hit "Gone Home: Oh my god you actually bough it. Is it really that idea to just say Steven Gaynor? Last I checked we don't spout off Peter Molyneux's most successful game everytime he's mentioned.
This Gone Home stuff is stupid as shit. ICO and Shadow of Colossus did what Gone Home did only better and it actually had good writing and art.
lol "i think us indies can show people other cool indie games" "with the higher standard of quality, indie makers are prolly gonna have to step up their game" pretentious twat
Shame he didnt say it like that, instead he came off as pretentious. You can also stop acting like a victim with this gone home bullshit.
It's been a while since I've played either but didn't they basically tell an actually interesting story with minimal story telling exposition related aspects?
They were able to completely tell a game through gameplay which is what Gone Home strived for and they did it better.
insult him all you want but he's completely right what people expected in terms of quality and scope from an indie game even just a few years ago is vastly different to now
Yeah, it's not like a minecraft rip off from Xbox live made its way to Steam or anything. Oh wait.
They were able to completely tell a game through gameplay which is what Gone Home strived for and they did it better.
what? that's not what they strove for at all
Shame he didnt say it like that, instead he came off as pretentious. You can also stop acting like a victim with this gone home bullshit.
well on one hand you have everyone mobbing against this one guy for ... liking something call it what you want - at least he's not an aggressor
the internet really killed the word pretentious now everything different is called 'pretentious' honestly you have to be a pretentious fuck to come to that conclusion
what? that's not what they strove for at all well on one hand you have everyone mobbing against this one guy for ... liking something call it what you want - at least he's not an aggressor
The Gone Home/ICO comparison is faulty. I'd rather compare to the first System Shocks which had similar ideas of presenting narratives. For some reason people still think Gone Home did something new.
