My new 4870 isnt working, i plug both 6 pin connectors from the power supply into it, i put it in the pcie x16, i plug the monitor in the back and my monitor isnt picking it up, well it goes from No Signal to no image at all which means it knows its plugged in. The card powers on and everything but the screen isnt picking anything up if its to the contrary then on the board side of the card there are 3 red lights in a corner.

Does your computer beep when you first turn it on?
[editline]10:45PM[/editline]
Like regular beep?
no
Might wanna contact the manufacturer then.
If the old GPU is PCI-E and also works, then yes, you got a faulty card.
is it trying to boot from onboard?
Ok guys now im thinking it might be the motherboard, i dont know. And its a brand new build so im trying to at least boot into bios. Here is my mobo and my graphics card.

Does the old GPU still work?
Where is the battery on my motherboard, i havent been able to find it and to joogotowned i dont have an old gu its a brand new build, i would have just upgraded my old computer but it only has pci x1.0 so i had to get a whole new build.
Shit, sorry I failed at reading.
In this case, I'm not really sure how to check if it's the motherboard or GPU.
No problem, guess i wait for more answers
Or wait for a RMA.
Or try to fix it...
I have 3 red lights on the back of my 4870
Obviously, if you received a DOA GPU you should RMA it and get a brand new one that WORKS but it seems like you're being an ignorant punk that wants to fix it NOW NOW NOW when it most likely isn't possible so you waste time on the internet finding every possible solution when your RMA could've been shipped already.
btw, 3 red lights is power-related checked the connections from your GPU to your PSU. It could be your PSU.
Alright then guess im going to RMA, and as said, i have a 550W rosewill power supply. So do i need to RMA that too? all of this is less than a week old

I might have found your problem

Wouldn't hurt. When my PSU fried last week I sent back my mobo and my PSU just in case.
That's scary, I just ordered a card like that.
