After Ding Junhui has just defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan, I feel the need to commence a Snooker thread.
The thing about O'Sullivan, he's fantastic in short bursts but in these very long games... he crumbles and becomes emotional, despite him being the most consistent player throughout his career.
And I am now hopeful the China man can claim victory once and for all.
I've never even heard of snooker before. So it is like billiards with different rules?

Sorry, I'm triggered by the American Revolution and War of 1812 still.
Anyway, I looked up Snooker on Wikipedia, but being Wikipedia it goes into a bit too much detail. What's a place I can learn the basics so I know wtf snooker is.
watch this video for some high quality excellence

There are other rules but you learn as you go along.
Watching this and it is helping:

I'm still sort of confused by the color balls though. Can you only hit them after anyone sinks in a red? If you get a color in do you need another red before another color?

If you hit no balls is that allowed?
Why did you call him DingDong Wee in the opening paragraph when his name is Ding Junhui?
foul and a miss

ye, red then any colour, red then any colour until all reds are gone then you have to pot the colours in order.
it's a very simple game but when you learn the more complex rules like "snookering your opponent" and "playing for snookers". then shit gets real and you begin to appreciate how tense the game can get.
Where can I play it here in America?
Where can I play it here in America?
London, Ontario, Canada.
or
Birmingham, Alabama.
or
New England, North Dakota
London, Ontario is closest it seems at only two hours away. Gotta just get a passport tho...

any of these cities is fine.
omg it could end up being dingdong wii and john higgins in the final!!
this has gr8 significance for me because even though i want this china man to finally win, i still have a soft spot for higgins because when i was a kid growing up my fave was always higgins and not sullivan.
snooker is so underrated :(

At first I thought you were being snooty, as is customary of your people, but looking at the rules this is pretty interesting...

This is genuinely the funniest post I've ever read.
