http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/gta-v-pc-mods-blocked-eula-players-banned-even-single-player-mods/
As we reported yesterday, many players have found themselves getting banned from GTA Online for using mods. This would be understandable, but the mods in question only impacted the single player portion of GTA V, leaving GTA Online untouched. Many wondered why Rockstar would do this, and what justification they had to ban players for using mods, however it seems that the End User License Agreement (EULA) that players agree to explicitly prohibits the use of any mods within the game. The specific text reads “You agree not to: reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, display, perform, prepare derivative works based on, or otherwise modify the Software, in whole or in part”. This part of the EULA has been used as a reason for many of the bans that players have been reporting over the last few days.
so... this is how it is?
I don't know why people thought GTA V on PC would be some haven for modding. Rockstar clearly doesn't want people doing it and it seems like people assumed it would be easier somehow.
Pathetic That's about all I can say
looking for confirmation that it bans you for having mods in singleplayer only you're still modifying memory if you don't use the mods but have them running in Online
Shit like this just wants to make me pirate even more.
"my shark cards!"
One of the biggest mods people used for single player specifically disabled itself COMPLETELY when you went into online mode, as not to effect the multipalyer. You would think that Rockstar would appreciate something like that instead of saying "lol fuck you everyone gets a ban"
Fucking Social Club. Is there any crack to disable it or something? Don't even care for online on PC at all since I already got the PS3 version.
I can only understand that in multiplayer. If I want to use stupid crazy cheats in single player I should be allowed. I guess that's the joy of not owning what you paid for though.
I don't know why people thought GTA V on PC would be some haven for modding. Rockstar clearly doesn't want people doing it and it seems like people assumed it would be easier somehow.
There's a difference between what Rockstar wants, and what players want. And since it's purely singleplayer modifications, they can't use the excuse that it ruins the experience of others in multiplayer. SO Rockstar's being dicks purely for the sake of being dicks, no matter what their EULA says.
Disgraceful. Just disgraceful. Shit like that makes people pirate.
looking for confirmation that it bans you for having mods in singleplayer only you're still modifying memory if you don't use the mods but have them running in Online
There's a check that runs when you start GTA now, whether it's in singleplayer or multipalyer. Looks for hooks, memory edits, etc.
I don't know why people thought GTA V on PC would be some haven for modding. Rockstar clearly doesn't want people doing it and it seems like people assumed it would be easier somehow.
Because GTA IV had awesome mods
Well, if you were banned for a SP mod, and can't play online, don't worry, this is a thing: http://fivem.kthx.at/
I don't know why people thought GTA V on PC would be some haven for modding. Rockstar clearly doesn't want people doing it and it seems like people assumed it would be easier somehow.
GTA:SA is still alive and thriving on PC, entirely owed to mods. The same is true for GTA:IV. You'd think Rockstar would want the same thing for GTA:V.
Now I'm afraid to continue using the FOV mod I have I kinda need it or I get motion sick. [editline]5th May 2015[/editline] I think the biggest issue is that the first mods released... were trainers and cheats used in MP.
But I was playing with mods just yesterday, so...? I'm still not banned.
I'm glad modders already have a working prototype for custom GTA V multiplayer, the sooner we stop using Rockstar's shittier version of multiplayer the better.
I don't understand where people are getting this whole "GTAO is shitty" thing from. The multiplayer isn't shitty, Rockstar is just being shitty by handling this entire situation the wrong way.
What the fuck? Mods made GTA IV on pc so great and were the reason a lot of people bought V on pc. So stupid.
I'm glad modders already have a working prototype for custom GTA V multiplayer, the sooner we stop using Rockstar's shittier version of multiplayer the better.
Not to mention that'll allow for more flexibility with servers and allow people to make their own gamemodes like back in the SA-MP days
I don't understand where people are getting this whole "GTAO is shitty" thing from. The multiplayer isn't shitty, Rockstar is just being shitty by handling this entire situation the wrong way.
Agreed, I actually love GTA Online and have been an avid player of it.
This is angering.
R* are blind to ignore how important mods were for GTA IV's longevity. When Online eventually dies (and it will), mods will let the game live on- but only if Rockstar allow it.
i have to use a fov mod otherwise i get sick, what a piss take
im checking the steam reviews and it looks like all the top ones are negative, including being banned over the FOV fix
R* are blind to ignore how important mods were for GTA IV's longevity.
I don't understand where people are getting this whole "GTAO is shitty" thing from. This article does not cite anyone who has actually been banned, and every source I see claiming R* are banning single player modders cite this article... The previous article only cites Steam reviews of people complaining about being banned supposedly for using mods only in single player mode, but as we learned with the Rust forum, people aren't exactly honest when crying ban. There is still no official word about using mods in single player. From reddit: http://i.imgur.com/JQtZn2H.jpg Article is noting but clickbait spreading misinformation and fear to the gaming community which will do more damage to modding than R* could ever do.
I don't understand where people are getting this whole "GTAO is shitty" thing from.
The P2P aspect of it is quite shitty IMO. Always acts wonky for me and those I know. I miss player-managed dedicated servers in that aspect. [editline]wait[/editline]
The core of GTA Online is fun.. the problem is that it's wrapped in a giant layer of shit, thing such as: Peer-to-Peer ~Shark Cards~ Atrocious lobby system Useless matchmaking system Horrible grinds to unlock weapons/cars/car mods
Goddamn the lobby system is infuriating too. And the grind 2 unlock aspect for things seems hamfisted to me.
This article does not cite anyone who has actually been banned, and every source I see claiming R* are banning single player modders cite this article...
again, check steam reviews
